Hello Planet-9. I did a search and couldn't find much. Turns out any search relating to the bonnet lid returns a whole bunch of posts about dead batteries. At any rate, I have a 2012 987.2 that suffered a front end collision. The repair shop is telling me that, even though all boxster /caymen/ 911 models from 2006-2012 share the same part number for the bonnet lid, the mounting brackets are different and a hood from a 997 doesn't fit exactly (they say they have tried fitment from a 997 in their shop). I'm in Stuttgart and the lead time on a replacement hood from porsche is 120 days. My bull**** alarm is going off but I've never mounted a hood on the car so asking the community. How straightforward is fitment? what things are different with fitment between a 997 and 987?

In general, even at the most competent body shops in the world, patience is priceless and the order of the day for best results. You aren't the first to be disappointed by schedule and you won't be the last.

Sounds like the shop is partially right while the 997 and 987 share a lot of parts the bonnet mounting points and latch positions can differ slightly making direct fitment tricky. Some have made a 997 hood work with adjustments but it is not always a perfect bolt-on swap. If you are stuck waiting checking with local dismantlers or searching for a used 987.2 bonnet might speed things up.
