Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm running 2003 discs at the moment but I think Scott (UUF361) has the latest 2005 version and perhaps the last of the PCM II discs.
Leading evidence: 'Run 2003 discs at the moment' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run 2003 discs at the moment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. BMW use Navteq maps and still seem to supply update discs for even their old CD based system - that must be nearly 10 years old now.

I've heard about using Vauxhall & Opel discs being used in the Porsche PCM's but I'd like to get more info on this as I need updated discs too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From a thread going on over on PCGB forum- someone has established from Porsche Great Britain that Porsche are not producing any more nav discs for PCM2, so its going the same way as PCM 1, i.e. a nice and pretty, but ultimately expensive on-board monitor.
Navteq aren't able to sell the discs directly, but you would have thought it would not be beyond the wit of the resident computer geniuses round here to make a similar disc compatible- apparently PCM1 can be made to read the current Vauxhall/Opel nav discs.

Sorry- I wish I could help but I am only repeating what I read on PCGB forum.
I will ask the q on there and report back...
The things I do... I don't even have PCM!
A quick look on the web found this thread which is just the ticket I believe

"Timo,
I have copied a thread on the PCGB 996 Forum which will give you a address in the UK in which you can contact some one who can give you advice and supply the update disk. However, you may need to go to Opel for the Finland disk as this store is in the UK. I
It reads
now have the latest (2005) NavTeq GB satnav map installed and working in my car. The Opel / Vauxhall disc does work in the Siemens PCM but first you have to install a bit of Porsche upgrade software. This is very simple as you just insert the upgrade disk, it initialises itself and then asks you where you want to go (my one seems to have the 2003 database on the same disk). Then you insert the 2005 Opel disk, it initialises itself and ... it works!
This is all possible because of the perseverence of Gerard Mahoney at:

I would point out that Gerard put a lot of effort into finding this fix (along with someone he knows at NavTeq) and I did tell him that if he could find a solution then many Porsche drivers would be beating a path to his door.
The Opel disk is £109.99 + £6.00p&p and the upgrade disk costs £14.99. This is a bargain compared to Porsche prices. If anyone wants more information, call Gerard at the number above - he is very helpful and knowledgeable. "

still seems to be working, so give 'em a call... 8)

Many thanks
Having just spoken to Gerard I can confirm the following
These discs will work in a PCM1 if the unit is a later 16 bit one
PCM1 was upgraded from an 8 bit unit to a 16 bit unit in 2001/2002. you can tell if you have a 16 bit unit by looking at the map disc that you currently use. On the outer edge there is a number T1003805. If you have this number then you are in luck, you have the 16 bit version. If you have got the older 8 bit version click here
http://www.mapsworldwide.com/sku_27565.htm
for an alternative.
You need a software update disc and a new map disc. Update disc is £14 Map disc £109. Gerard is happy to supply us with just one update disc that we can share around, however we do need to purchase seperate map discs.
The latest map disc available is 2008
He has no map discs in stock at the moment but they are easy to order.
Let me know if you are interested.
I'm shocked that Porsche are not supporting the older satnav systems they supplied. BMW use Navteq maps and still seem to supply update discs for even their old CD based system - that must be nearly 10 years old now. I'm glad to hear there is a fix with these GM discs.
Re: just to clarify
The later version of PCM1, as opposed to PCM 2.
If you have pcm2, there are no update discs available, nor have satnavshop had any success trying to find a compatible non OE disc.
