Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Odd question I know, but given I spend more time on the M40 than the 'Ring, I'd like some quieter tyres for my 4S. Got Pzeros at the moment, seem pretty harsh to me, but then they have done 24k miles... Has anyone noticed particular brands are quieter than others?

POST 2Original post

24K As in 24,000 As in Twenty Four Thousand I thought Scott had the Forums Driving Miss Daisy Award :driving:

POST 3Original post

24K does sounds a little on the high side given at 18,800 mine werewere as low as hey could get........and had been very gently driven..............

POST 4Original post

straight tread patterns do help to reduce notice IIRC conti's are quieter unlike TotoR888's which are noisy you could not believe :frustrated:

POST 5Original post

If you did lots of long trips you could drag that out of a set, especially if you're not a track day person. Yes, many tires are quiter but sorry, can't tell you. Look up tyre reviews online. Evo do regular ones you should be able to get on the net. When you get quiet tyres you get two givens. One, they won't work very well when you get angry - if they do then the other given kicks it, you've paid an absolute fortune for them. Quiet tyres will have a unaggressive pattern and generally soft sidewalls to stop noise travelling and creation in the first place. Given the number of miles you've done I wouldn't say you are after a high-performance tyre so the downsides shouldn't be a concern for you.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tis true, and another 3k to go on the rears apparently I do sometimes wonder why I have a C4S, rather than something nice, comfy and beige.

POST 7Original post

PZero Rossos are designed for comfort and quiet.

POST 8Original post

On my old 996 Targa I could only manage 4000 miles per set of PZero's on the back inky:

POST 9Original post

I've seen the way you drive. I'm not surprised!

POST 10Original post

I have tried P-zero Rossos, Conti SC1's and SC2's, Goodyear GSD-3s in the past and I reckon the Conti SC2 is the quietest of them all. Also has pretty good wet grip so suits me fine (and a lot cheaper than the ubiquitous Michelins). Alternatively, I could probably get you a good deal on a Lexus

POST 11Original post

I should add that I think they're not very good for 911s (totally imho!)

POST 12Original post

Oh dear, now I am really confused. I had Conti's on my Mercedes and they were very noisey and the car wallowed through bends. Bracknel Tyres recommended Michelin Pilots and they were def. much better all round. My Targa has Contis and I was off to Bracknel to have them changed to Michelins at the weekend. Now what do I do, I want quiet at motorway speeds and sharp cornering in both wet and dry, with a comfortable ride. Wish I hadn't looked at this thread now!

POST 13Original post

I think you want what we all want, but unfortunately tyres that excel in one area are inevitably not as good in others! But the one with the biggest 'sweet spot' are, in my experience, the Michelin PS2s. (not PS1s)

POST 14Original post

Tony The Michelins are the best all round tyre (IMO of course) ld:

POST 15Original post

27,000 on the rears I'd get them stuffed and mounted above the fire place Robert. Why not buy a PSE then you won't worry about the tyre noise
