Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am sure my local council spends more money and time converting dual carridgeways into single 30mph roads, rather than trying to actually improve safety by repairing the roads.
Leading evidence: 'Repair roads' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair roads' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

But then if we had common sense we might not be talking about our Porsche passion - rather be running Morris Minor Travellers
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Has anyone actually upgraded their standard 17" wheels, to 18"?
There's no question in my mind that the 18" look better, but I have read and heard from a number of sources that the ride quality is significantly better on 17".
It's quite pot-holey around where I live and the car doesn't seem to jolt as much as my previous low profiled cars (18") have! I am not sure if this is the alloy wheel that is making the difference, or if it's the car....but I suspect it's the former.
Was curious to know if anyone has experienced this first hand?
Keen to avoid shelling out on 18" wheels and new tyres, only to get rid of them because of the ride quality.
Cheers,
GD
I have not done this on the 996 but have on previous cars and although always warned that iot would detroy the handling, never actually found it to be the case. As long as you keep the profile similar on the tyres, the effecgt should be minimal.
Not sure where you live, but I currently have my old set of 18s sitting around in North Bedfordshire. You are extremeley welcome to bolt them on for a fews days and see the difference if it works....
Hi.
I upgraded from 17" to 18" on a C2. This also gave bigger wheel sections front and back.
I have to agree that the ride now is firmer because there is a smaller depth of tyre rubber to cushion the ride, and every join in concrete motorway sections makes itself known with the characteristic "thump
thump" .
However I can live with it, especially as these Black Le Mans Victor Equipment Whhels look great against my Speed Yellow bodywork.
Once again vanity beats common sense

No no no Heaven forbid what am I saying

Hi Chauch and Rich,
Thank you both very much for your kind offers. I actually in live in Surrey, but would feel uncomfortable borrowing the wheels in case I damaged them.
Reading the replies, it sounds as though I will be getting more jolting through the car with 18" and I actually quite like the ride at the moment, but I certainly don't like the look!

Hmm, I need to think about my upgrade a bit more!
Cheers for all your advice.
