I blame the silicon levels on a recently installed oil pan capacity extender.

Previous Owner religiously changed oil annually despite putting very few miles on the car each year, and kept good records.

Suggestion
I do one year/ 5000mi max oil changes, no warming of engine at idle, no bogging, Driven DT40 5W40 oil (NE Florida car), run 3-5K RPM on average, no short donut/coffee runs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I searched Oil Analysis and found a lot of posts for individual results with questions, but not one thread as a single repository of all of our results.
I think it would be interesting to see other owner's results in one thread, specifically for that purpose. Post up yours!
Here's mine to start:
I bought my 2009 CS 6MT 9/27/24, with 91,919 miles. The previous owner didn't keep great records and had none from previous owners. I patched together a maintenance log from Carfax, AutoCheck and the few receipts he had. As far as I know, the last 3 oil changes -
84,577 - 2/10/2022
87,752 - 1/6/2023
92,994 - 10/29/2024
So, 3,175 miles between the first two, and 5,242 miles between the middle and last. I wasn't even sure what oil he used. The last oil change (now under my ownership) used LiquiMolly and Cericote. We'll see how that compares to the report below, which has 5,242 miles on it. Seems like it did pretty good for (probably) having >5k miles.
I'll participate as well (
2010 Boxster 2.9L
, manual trans):
A few samples here. First was whatever Carvana put in there when I bought the car from them. Second was Tigers Head brand oil. Third was also Tigers Head oil again, but the lower viscosity made us think it may have been 5w30 by mistake. Last was M1 0w40.
Note that I have shown that 10k oil changes (regardless of time - was almost 2 years on that last one) doesn't affect oil. That has been Blackstone's comment and finding as well, and I've confirmed this with tests I've done with my and my-friends' cars...
Thanks for sharing. What was their comments on the "Properties" results? They have been outside of what they should have been for the last 3 oil changes.

I did 2 oils samples, the first one in 2023 when I got the car on
Mobil1
0w40. The second one this year running
Liquimoly
5w40. I think both samples had about 2 track weekends (4 days total) on the oil. I usually change it every other track weekend.
It's interesting to see the differences between M1 and
Liquimoly
. I would have expected M1 to have less zinc and phosphorus. Makes me wonder if paying the premium is worth it for
Liquimoly
...

I've never submitted an oil analysis sample before, and thought i'd just experiment with the WIX analysis (which is actually done by ALS Tribology).
Overall, things seem generally ok (?), although Iron seems slightly higher than other results here. I've switched to Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5w-40, for better or worse, so we'll see how that goes in the future.
It is definitely a smaller analysis set. I don't like that it is missing fuel dilution, as that seems a fairly useful metric. Anything else jumping out as WIX/ALS Tribology being an inferior analysis?
07CS now with 52.5K miles. New report on
next
DIY oil change at 53.5K. This report was Jan 2022 with a Mileage of 41,150 mi. and a 4398 mile changeout using Driven DT40 5W40 oil. The previous report shown Dec 2020 also was using Driven DT40 5W40; the test depicted on July 2019 was using
LiquiMoly
HiTec 5W40. All samples were great but the 2 recent ones out of the 3 depicted using Driven DT40 showed incredible increases of Molybdenum from 5ppm to 443 ppm. These Lokasil and follow on Alusil blocks NEED Molybdenum which is a friction modifier which is a big bore score minimizer in the 06-08 3.4,3.6,3.8 F6 engines and follow on 2009 Alusil 3.4,3.6,3.8 engines. So far at 52.5 k miles my F6 is a very healthy engine! I can only understand the reasons for bore score and reduce them as much as possible . I do one year/ 5000mi max oil changes, no warming of engine at idle, no bogging, Driven DT40 5W40 oil (NE Florida car), run 3-5K RPM on average, no short donut/coffee runs. avg 150 miles per FUN rides, use
Techron
fuel sys/injector cleaner every 3rd/4th tank full and Top Tier Shell fuel, No track use. At 64 years old I'm in a position to not sweat it.....its my goal to keep doing what i am doing and MAXIMIZE SMILES PER MILE!!
I am using the same oil and fuel (Top Tier) as Cavediver but I am also using the Driven Fuel Additive periodically. Will be doing my 2nd oil change in a couple of weeks, doing it every 4,000 miles. Previous owner was using the
Porsche
suggested oil, changing annually (he never did more than 5,000 miles in any year).
2008 Boxster

Previous owner changed oil right before I bought it so the below is with the
Mobil 1 oil
. I have Driven in it now and my Feb change and analysis will be based on use of Driven Oil and Drive Fuel Additive.
Sharing my
2016 Cayman
first oil analysis just for comparison.
Castrol Edge
Euro 5w-40. Oil is 2 years in car but only 5,000 kms (3,125 mi). No oil additives. Metal wears are below universal average. I will try
Liqui Moly
MoS additive
next
time to bump up the Molybdenum friction modifier.
Howdy all - What do we think here guys?
I blame the silicon levels on a recently installed oil pan capacity extender. New car to me on the last owners oil change. Seems to me that the report is just showing some normal+ wear on the rod bearings but nothing too crazy
It’s planned to be a track car so it will get its share of abuse (and has in the past). Now running proper DT40
thanks!
