My 2007 cayman TPS goes off line while driving. It comes back on its own. I also still can’t open my Frunk after replacing actuator and indoor switches. My tester seems unable to detect the problem. The tester said it tested good also. Anyone help please
The usual first guess when weird problems like this appear is the
battery
. Have a look at how old yours is, and have it checked.
When you say you replaced the actuator and switches, are you referring to the door sill switch, and also, which actuator did you replace, (location). Tester indicates it’s good? Need more details on your method, what you tested for (12 volts, ground, continuity?) and what was tested and what the results were. I love troubleshooting these kinds of things, maybe with more background we can figure this out. I did a modification on my frunk release, adding a backup failsafe in the event of a dead
battery
, so I may be able to assist.
Our TPS systems are sensitive to outside interference from other devices transmitting on the same 433 mhz frequency. I'm in Florida and regularly, when a county owned vehicle gets close to mine while driving down the road, the TPS systems goes blank. It comes back within a mile or two. Another place it happens is one of our local fire stations. More often than not, every time I drive by the same thing happens. It appears that the county has some kind of transmitting devices that my car picks up when close enough and the TPS goes blank. I've also had it happen when I haven't been able to identify a reason but suspect something similar. It happens regularly and even with a new
battery
and new TPS sensors. It's just the way it is, at least on the 987.1s. Oh and by the way, it never happens on my wife's
Acura
, but then I have no idea how
Acura
's work or transmit. Go figure.

my experience with the 987.1 CS
TPMS
has been a history of gremlins in the system. It blanks out and resets and for the last few years, reads a RF as a RR (but reverts back to normal occasionally) and the left side is normal. I have thrown over 1K at this issue and believe the problem is the receiver under the front hood. since i get the pressure readings, i really don't care if i have a dash warning. as to the front hood locked, there is the cable pull in the front wheel well to open the frunk ( well documented) I have had 3 or 4 dead batteries on this cayman and never had any issue on the startup..
plug
and play good luck
