Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I went back and removed that 'extra' piece and oil pressure was back to normal.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

question regarding where the oil filter cartridge slides onto. When I unscrewed the plastic housing and pulled off the old filter I had a metal piece with a spring, come off with the cartridge. I have no idea why it came off with the old filter but when I reinstalled everything I was getting a low oil pressure warning. I went back and removed that 'extra' piece and oil pressure was back to normal. I am baffled and last oil change was over a year ago and do not remember that piece being an issue.

POST 2Original post

That is the oil pressure bypass valve. You need to replace your plastic filter housing as Porsche does not sell this separately.

POST 3Original post

You should consider going to the spin-on filter and adapter sold by our host.

POST 4Original post

I followed JFP and inaminit's advice and bought the spin-on filter adapter. Now it's just a napa filter when I need to change the oil.
