Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to be doing some refresh work on my front suspesion (C4S) soon and have a (hopefully) quick question... I'm replacing the front shocks as part of this work with Bilstien B4 (M030) standard shocks. The lower pring seat on the C4S (Turbo and I assume C4) are the same and are not concentric. The shocks have to go in a certain way with a bracket pointing inwards. Is there a mounting point for the lower spring seat that assures it's in the correct position or is at a matter of judgement to get it in the right position? From what I can see the spring seat just clamps onto the shock tube. Part 3 to part 1 in attached image. Any words of wisdom greatly received.

POST 2Original post

Pretty sure you can't get them mounted incorrectly as there is a flat on the shock absorber tube which needs to align with the clamp bolt on the base. Otherwise the bolt won't fit. MC

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks MC. Just checked the new shocks and yes, there's a detent in the shock body that will align the lower mount by the clamping bolt. In addition to this is there any alignment system for where the lower part of the shock goes into the hub carrier? TIA

POST 4Original post

The large flat sticky-outy bit on the damper is the key there, it will be obvious when you take the old one apart or put the new one together, you can't get it wrong. MC

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what I like! Thank you. :thumb:
