i would find an area i could drill into and use a screw with a large washer to fit the heat shield ..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so today I lifted the c4s up to replace my mufflers with Top gear ones. Unfortunately the 2 self tapered screws holding the side and rear heat shields together where completely rusted and bonded to the steel bracket with no way of removing them. So decided to drill the rivets holding the bracket to the rear shield but while doing so one of the little bracket snapped in two on one side. Is there anywhere I can get a replacement for those or are they full part of the rear shield? I have been looking with no success so if anyone has an idea would be much appreciated!

POST 2Original post

I'm not totally sure of which part you mean .. any chance of a picture please .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This one, they are the bracket that hold the side heat shields to the large middle one. The metal is very soft so I reckon I could probably make one from scratch. The challenge is to get the rusted screw/bracket off the plastic frame holding the side shield.

POST 4Original post

Ahh yes .. With these heat shields and broken fixings .. i would find an area i could drill into and use a screw with a large washer to fit the heat shield .. as long as its secure it will do its job and not rattle . Turbos are common for this at the base and that's what i do there ... the 13mm nuts often snap .

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks I did consider that which seems to be the only way to do without too much hassle.
