Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Knocking sound coming from front when I turn hard, or sometimes over a pothole. Full suspension refresh 1000 miles ago with new arms, original springs and koni FSD, so unlikey to have any worn bushes. Checked over all bolts - everything appears to be torqued up correctly. No play in top mounts when I bounce the front up&down either. Then I noticed this: Which looks like evidence that the ARB is actually knocking against the coffin arm - which has chipped the paint off the ARB and dented the coffin arms. Any thoughts/ solutions/ advice? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I might be being dense here but is the roll bar fitted under the coffin arm ? White arrow.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll see myself out. Thanks for your help

POST 5Original post

This might be useful when your torquing everything up again

POST 6Original post

Hahahahahaha That genuinely gave me a right good laugh and brightened up my day. I've made similar mistakes. Put a timing belt on backwards and wasted hours trying to figure why my markers refused to line up. Also put a drop link wrong side of a brake line and ripped the flexi clean off the car.

POST 7Original post

I love this forum. Been there, done that - share your pain OP.

POST 8Original post

It's an easy mistake for anyone to make .. even mechanics when a car has been apart for a while . I normally see the rear roll bar upside down .. hence this threw me a bit .. All in all though .. it's a simple mistake whether it was Diy or a garage that did it . Every lesson we learn makes us better for the future and there is no better lesson to learn than from a mistake .. Mechanics make them as well :thumb:

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all - for the diagnosis and for the "emotional support"

POST 10Original post

Yes - I found out our front left anti-roll bar drop link was put on backwards by a garage a couple of years ago, according to the paperwork that came with the car. To make it fit they bent the rod ! Just spent a short while straightening it and turning it around.

POST 11Original post

When i joined this forum i assumed every Indy was the same as mine .. A Porsche mechanic has a certain way of working .. a diligence and attention to detail .. I have been corrected in that assumption over the years which has saddened me .. im proud of my trade and will stick up for it .. but .. I often find .. i shouldn't be doing so these days . Starting to look forward to retirement lol !!
