Replace the failed slave cylinder and accumlator with new parts (I guess around 1000 in parts)

From what I understand, the power-assisted clutch system uses the power steering system to help reduce the force needed to depress the clutch pedal..
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 2000 996 Turbo seems to have developed one of the common issues that plague the 996 Turbo....leaking clutch slave cylinder. Symptoms : Odd noise coming from the engine when warmed up, the PS reservoir on the engine is empty, and there's leaking from the clutch slave reservoir in the front of the car..
As far as I can see, the options are as follows :
Replace the failed slave cylinder and accumlator with new parts (I guess around 1000 in parts)
Rebuild the slave cylinder and fit a new accumlator (250 in parts)
BBi Clutch Slave Cylinder Conversion Upgrade Kit (around 1400 in parts)
EVOMS GT2 Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder Conversion (around 1200 in parts)
What have other people done, and what's the feedback from the different options?
Many thanks!
From what I understand, the power-assisted clutch system uses the power steering system to help reduce the force needed to depress the clutch pedal..
It seems an overly complicated system...
That's right / it's the PS resorvoir up front, not the brakes!
OP, had the same problem - got Indy to fix by fitting new accumulator and slave - was about 1200 parts and labour .
It looked like a horrible job
Don't leave it, I almost got stranded on the way to get it done, had a tenuous 5 miles to drive with no clutch and 8 roundabouts ...'it was a exercise in planning to make sure at no point did I have to stop, as if I did, I'd have been stuck!! Did the whole 5 miles in 2nd gear!
In retrospect I should have shelled out for the GT2 conversation as Ive never liked the turbo clutch feel
Thanks for the feedback. Deep down, I know I would prefer the GT2 conversion, but it's a lot more expensive than rebuilding the existing part...and at this time of the year the costs are piling up
In addition I will do the work myself, the garages around here are either just about affordable but not great or super expensive but great.
I just ordered a slave cylinder rebuild kit from here :
Rennfix
for $85
and an accumulator from
AutoDoc
for €125
That should last a year or two, then if (when.. ) it breaks again I can do the GT2 upgrade.
That's pretty cheap - good luck!
The main pain points (and this was being done on the ramp) were just getting access to fit the parts (think he had to unbolt subframe), but the bleeding - good experienced guy and it took him several attempts
