Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. The car is not in the US, which is why proven and heavily tested products are a must, there is no calibration that can take place and a CEL light would be even an issue..

Colin Belton (9M) uses TPC if I am not mistaken...Thanks.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't know much about water-cooled N/A engines nor who are the best N/A tuners.. I am looking to get for a friend a performance upgrade system that has been thorouhgly tested and proven. Looking for around real 30+HP if possible, and must be without internals. The car is a 996 2002 Tiptronic.
ECU, exhaust, cams (why not), intake, etc...
Any recommendations please.
Thanks
Hi Jean,
Not sure about "without internals", as you then mention cams, but if you do want to venture into "internals" then why not look at the Porsche OEM X51 kit for N/A engines?...very tested and *I think* about that sort of bhp uplift....I'll wait to be corrected there though. Think it's pretty pricey, but thats Porsche for ya....
Alternatively look at de-catting the exhaust, adding matched exhaust headers with performance silencers (not the Porsche Sports Exhaust, as they openly tell you, they just sound better but don't claim to increase bhp), re-routing the induction tract and then re-mapping on a dyno.
This'll *probably* gain you about 20-25bhp, small increase for the outlay, suggest the money would be better spent on suspension and/or track driving training to better utilise the 300 or 320bhp already there?....
...of course, there's always a supercherger kit that could be added
...9M/NineMeister in the UK can install one (derived from a US based tuner, I believe), that'd certainly get you more than 30bhp!!
Spen
Spen, thanks for your input.
By internals I meant increasing displacement, or doing work to the heads etc.. sorry if was not clear.
I want to keep it simple, like a Cargraphic, FVD, or other "complete" kit. I wanted to know if there are any US or other European tuners that have developped a proven package as well, and who are Rennlisters' favourites.
The supercharger is not an option, the level of skills here is not that high to have it sorted out and running. Colin Belton (9M) uses TPC if I am not mistaken...Thanks.
When you find it let me know, seriously there probably isn't more than 5-10 hp out there unless you go with the x51. The engine is already working at 90% VE ( a similar corvette engine would be cranking out 600hp) as it is, simple bolt-ons won't/can't add that much. Your money is better spent with suspension /tire upgrades. My car with an x73 suspension and R compounds routinely laps stock TTs at the track.
Hey Jean,
Just to give you an idea of our kit (if you have not already seen it).

I am sure you have a distributor in your area or can contact FVD DE direct to order, but I would be happy to answer any questions you have
Evan
Thanks Evan, yes I know this package and heard it has impressive performance. I have an FVD 993TT spare engine at home, great performance too, great products.
I will send you a PM.
I would like to hear from any US tuning houses as well. Anyone has any experiences please.
Thanks,
Jean
Hi Jean,
Depending on where your friend is, EVO has kits too. Their Stage II, includes headers, exhaust, their intake system and ECU. Pretty much the same as any of the European ones in terms of the compoments.
Cheers!
Alex, thanks for your response. I guess this must be similar to what Imagineauto has and which I am considering as well. The car is not in the US, which is why proven and heavily tested products are a must, there is no calibration that can take place and a CEL light would be even an issue..
Thanks
