I'm replacing the power steering hard-lines on my 2001 996.1 3.4L Carrera 4, and Porsche Solihull keep on sending me the wrong line (see photo: old line is on the top and wrong line is on the bottom).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hiya, I hope someone can help me. I'm replacing the power steering hard-lines on my 2001 996.1 3.4L Carrera 4, and Porsche Solihull keep on sending me the wrong line (see photo: old line is on the top and wrong line is on the bottom). The parts they and Porsche Germany insist are correct are 99634534745010 and 99634745209. As you can see in the photo, it has a different shape to the corner bend and as such cannot reach the mounting bracket on the front left of the underside of the car. (I tried to test fit it but it simply will not fit). As a second opinion, I asked Design 911 and they said it should be 99634745128 and 99634744936 which belongs to the mark 2 Turbo S model! In the link to the diagram, it is parts 1 and 2: https://www.design911.co.uk/pages/diagramsBrowser.aspx?categoryID=4&diagramID=2640 As as hunch, I think the power lines I've been given are wrong because it belongs to the Carrera 2 model and the Carrera 4 has a different bend given the front diff and driveshafts. Hope someone knowledgeable can chime in.

Here's another pic on the difference.

POST 3Original post

Im certainly no parts guy but looking at this site .. the part that ends 128 is a LHD car .. i assume yours is RHD so if you scroll down a bit you'll find the number .. https://www.bellandcolvill.co.uk/deroure?qs=1&preview=1&make=3&model=25&groupid=2590 I don't want to say it's this number as i'm not a parts guy !!! but the info here seems to help a bit . https://www.bellandcolvill.co.uk/product?qs=1&MAK=3&MDL=25&TBL=2590&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=&SC=0&PBID=76730

POST 4Original post

I can't help with the part number or the differences but I bought mine from Design911, they were cheaper and fit perfect, my installation procedure is below. http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=149641&highlight=power+steering+lines
