Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace three' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace three' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Right now my daily driver is an 83 380SL (father has one too many old cars) which I guess I'm going to keep and have the Cayman for a weekend driver. Wife has an 03 G35 which I don't think she is about to part with. I should add that I had a 986 from 5/99 through 5/03.

None will go, but right now I am driving2004 Cayenne S, my wife has a 2003 BMW 530i, and we have a 1998 Audi A6 at our condo in Florida. My Cayenne will be a winter only car and the Cayman will be my summer car.
I will trade in (or sell privately) a 2003 Carerra cabriolet. I love the car, but an earlier experience with an NSX made me a firm believer in mid-engine handling.
the cayman will replace three .......... my daily driver (93 300ZX), my date/show car (95 300ZX) and my race car (97 Integra type R) !! I am asking a lot out of this gator but I think it will live up to the task /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif
2004 B6 S4
I still love this car, and will probably lurk here for at least another 6 months to 1 year before pulling the trigger.... unless the first wave of owners are so dithyrambic that they convince me to take the plunge earlier....
Do you not like your 2005 Corvette? I hope you don't mind me asking. I have a Z06 on order at a couple of dealerships but I have driven the C6 as well. I am having trouble making up my mind what I really want, and your post caught my eye.
Thanks!

No, I don’t mind and will try to make this as short as possible.
I was shopping for a daily driver sports car and was very interested in a 911 when I decided the C6 Corvette would make a better daily driver since it was quieter, had a more compliant suspension, and required less effort to use the clutch, shift and steering.
The Corvette was everything I hoped it would be.
I recently decided that my sports car should be a weekend toy and my needs have changed.

If I were single and looking for women, or if somebody was paying me to win races I would pick the Corvette.
However, I drive for pleasure and German cars simply “feel” better.
I actually prefer driving my 04 Audi S4 to the more powerful and better looking Corvette.
The Corvette is great fun when being pushed at 9/10ths.
Throttle back to 6/10ths, where I do most of my driving, and the Corvette isn’t that much fun.
The steering feels dead compared to the Porsche and I feel removed from what is going on with the car.
A Porsche, BMW and to a lesser extent Audi have more mechanical presence and there is a more satisfying man and machine interface.

If you are looking for the fastest car and bragging rights, the Corvette is a great choice.
If you value driving satisfaction and that elusive X-Factor of “character”, “soul” or “mechanical presence” as I like to call it, I think the Porsche is a better car.

Hope this helps.

I call it engineering and manufacturing excellence. I'm impressed we can build these things. There are many cars that will beat a Cayman in a straight line and/or on a track for roughly the same money. Corvette, Viper, 911, etc. You could buy a race car for half that that would go much faster at the track. The point of driving isn't just lap times (unless there's $$ on the line
. My dad has a Ford GTand it will kill my (future) car any which way (I hope so for $175k!), but I'mjust asexcited to drive the Cayman.
2003 E46 M3 Coupe and 2003 Vauxhall VX220 Turbo. I'm hoping that the Cayman will combine the best elements of both in one fantastic package and then take handling and braking up a few notches.

quote:
Dean,
What is DSG? Is it the paddle style shifter?
Tony

...yes paddle shift, the Direct Shift Gearboxhas 2 clutches and was co designed with some boffins from Porsche. It actually makes 0-60 times (and others obviously) quicker than manual with zero drive being taken from the wheels with no torque converter. It's got launch control and blips the throttle on the way down. 0.02 secs to change gear as 1 clutch pre selects as the other drives. Awesome!

I've discussed my experience with SMG before. agree with V6TT, these systems are nice. I, however, have decided that I still prefer a true clutch/manual 6 speed. We'll see if I still feel that way after giveing up the SMG for the Cayman manual.
