They recommended and fitted Koni special active dampers with Eibach springs only in Aug to my C2.

Suggestion
They'd already gone through many different set ups on my car including Ohlins with various spring options, and I found them all too firm / crashy for my roads.

Suggestion
Its generally set with the damping midway but sometimes if the GF is onboard for a trip i might soften by 3-5 clicks

They know more about suspension setups for 996 than most other people and have been using 996 test mules for last year or so.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The Bilstein setup CG have been trying to develop are still not available for C2's due to delays at Bilstein.
hi folks
now that my car is geting a new 3.9 engine, my next point to address is the suspension.
It's currently riding on ohlin road&track suspension, which even in the softest setting is simply too much for the road.
I'm considering Billstein suspension sets, but unsure what would be best to have a slightly lowered car but supple and suitable for Uk roads. Any suggestions?
If you find the Ohlins too firm have you spoken with them to ask about different springs?
I find the rear standard springs on them far too harsh. The rear is 120nm standard, but they do offer one at 70nm too.
The front standard is 60nm and they also offer a 40nm spring for that as well.
I think you can also fit Eibach springs to them as well.
If you do a search I think it was Malden on here he made the swap and said it transformed his car. They discussed the Eibach spring options too.
However, I find damper setting make more difference than springs.
Give Center Gravity a call and ask about their new CG Touring products for 996 and see if that floats your boat. They know more about suspension setups for 996 than most other people and have been using 996 test mules for last year or so. Products now becoming available. I know as they had my 996 for several months as one of the test mules next to their own C4S. They'd already gone through many different set ups on my car including Ohlins with various spring options, and I found them all too firm / crashy for my roads. Now perfect.
There is a couple of different spring rates floating about. I went with Feal 441+ with 10kg and 5kg springs. Rear feels spot on but front is a little harsh so going to swop to a 4kg spring.
As other as said. CoG quoted as the best to go too re setup. I need to pay them a visit myself
The Bilstein setup CG have been trying to develop are still not available for C2's due to delays at Bilstein. They recommended and fitted Koni special active dampers with Eibach springs only in Aug to my C2. Definite improvement, with improved ride quality, quietness and body control. Car was setup at factory X74 (-30mm) height.
Yeah i had H&R springs (30mm lower) and Koni special actives together with X74 geo done by Charlie of William Francis, the front end is awesome and only grounds over the very worst offerings of terrible Suffolk country roads.
Still not happy with the rear, am wondering if I should have had the H&R ant-roll bars also.
When I contacted Centre Gravity about Ohlins they did state that they don't fit Ohlins with standard springs as they are too hard (was originally planning for Ohlins but was moved away by both cost and terrible suffolk roads).
Sadly my car is now with Charlie to sell as it didn't suit our needs in the end.
Had a fair amount spent on it too in my short ownership, so the other half isn't impressed!
I am currently considering either selling my car or throwing some money at it and I must say after watching Matt watson praise the ohlins they were top of my potential Upgrades list. Not once did he complain about the ride, even someone from porsche complimented the way the car drives.
As much documented here, I found the ride of Ohlins completely unacceptable on standard springs on UK roads, completely different on the track of course.
Softer springs help a lot but I haven't tried at Porsche standard (MUCH softer) spring rates. I'm sure that the Ohlins dampers are are set to suit the stiff springs. If only Ohlins had made Road settings for UK use as well as Road and Track!
the ride quality and handling on a smooth road is amazing.
once the road is not to smooth, things change. That's my personal impression anyway.
I'm going to have a search for softer springs...
I have the Ohlins R/T but with the softer spring rates that CG recommended - you're welcome to take my car out for a spin on the (somewhat) local lanes to find out what it's like if you that would help?
got the ohlins road and track with the softer springs.
Car is sat at gt3 -10/12mm height, full corner weight set up by Pete at Centre Gravity. Its generally set with the damping midway but sometimes if the GF is onboard for a trip i might soften by 3-5 clicks
Car also has fully adjustable arms, most of the arms are rose jointed, also has RSS engine mounts (which make a huge difference) and power flex gearbox insert (not a night and day difference but slightly noticeable)
Car is epic on a smooth surface through the corners, i also find it rides pretty smoothly across most surfaces, the area it struggles slightly is slow speed bumpy urban roads, but considering that its a sports car and not a Bentley its not bad!
Car previously had std porsche suspension (although some arms were worn) then it had Koni shocks with H&R springs which was an improvement but neither were as compliant as the ohlins.
Hope this helps a little.
If budget was limitless then id suggest the tractive fully active dampers with the controller, this will give you everything! sadly the price is a bit mega!
