Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Is there a quick way to tell if my rear discs have had it? Did a nice 'tour of Scotland' last weekend (unfortunately spoiled by some b*****d putting a cobblestone through my windscreen outside the hotel in Edinburgh - had to come home on the back of an AA flatbed, but that's another story!) and whilst driving slowly with the windows open noticed a slight 'squeak'. Also, when braking from high speed there is a resonating noise that appears to come from the rear. I sometimes think that I can detect a slight judder but that might be my imagination. I recently had the front discs replaced so it can't be them. The rears look quite worn, but no more than some other cars I have owned with life left in them. Thanks

POST 2Original post

If they look quite worn on the outer face, then you need to have a good look at the inner faces. The inner face always corrodes MUCH more than the outer one. You would be amazed how bad they can get, yet show no obvious sign through pedal feel or lack of stopping power.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
