Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Another thing Alex is I like to use the top down all year but, if i didn't, I would be praying hard the first time I hit the down button after say 6 months of non use.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm considering whether to put the hardtop on for winter or whether as I will be using the car far less frequently over winter (it will be garaged) there is no real point. What do people generally do? If I do put the hardtop on for an extended period do I need do anything to the soft top before hand? Can it be damaged by being folded for a few months? Thanks for any advice.

POST 2Original post

When I had my cab I never put the hard top on - it was too bothersome. I found the cab roof to be very high quality and so never saw the need. The guy I bought the car from never took the hard top off, so the cab roof had been folded for multiple years. It didn't seem to have suffered at all. Mine was a gen 2 so had the glass window - gen 1 cabs might be different. Keep it clean and give it some protection and it will be fine all year round.

POST 3Original post

The underside of the parcel shelf on the hardtop can damage the front centre of the soft top if you're not careful how its clamped down. Also, ensure the roof is fully dry before fitting the top otherwise it'll be moldy when you remove it.

POST 4Original post

Same, looks a bit odd, rattles and what's wrong with the top down at 5 degrees so long as it's not p@ssing down

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine is a Gen.2 as well. Thanks for this I agree it is a pain so I'll probably stick to the soft top.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fair point, I have also been advised as my garage is not heated to avoid putting a car cover on.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It does look a little strange, so I'll probably leave it in its cover and stick to the soft top, thanks
