Just a quick note as a heads-up. Uh, let's just that I took one for the team so you don't have to.
In short, living here in Boston, I did have to park my
987.2
Boxster
2.9L out on the street for a few days. I'm pretty careful about keeping my drains clear, and right now it has the rare and removable hard top on. No big deal, right?
Well, I received for free a "Bumper Bully" from a friend of mine who moved to the suburbs and didn't need it anymore. I figured it couldn't hurt to avoid love-taps to the rear bumper. The BB is a neat piece of flexible rubber material that's non-marring to your car's bumper, is slightly shock absorptive, and hangs from your trunk to cover your bumper. Sounds good, right?
Makes sense for vertical cars, but not so much for our 98X cars that are sloped. The two straps with velcro in them velcro into the trunk (NOT the frunk), and lay over the trunk seal.
Well, it rained heavily and I'm almost positive it was the BB that let all the rain in.
Luckily I caught this fairly quickly before things got moldy and all that. The trunk will be drying out for a few days, and there's nothing like a clogged-drain disaster that destroys electrical boxes and mildews your interior carpet. Bullet dodged and I'll be leaving a small fan running in my trunk for another day or so. Plus, I'll be sure to go for a few long drives with the trunk empty -- as it heats up pretty nicely in there.
Live and learn, I guess. If it pours again without the BB on the car, I'll be coming back to edit this thread -- but the BB looks like the clear culprit here (especially as the trunk was always dry until a few days ago).
Thanks for the heads up......I think we are getting some sun

few days, at least around NJ
I love my car just like all you members but I have to say it’s a real “ fail “ that a hard rainstorm can not only disable the vehicles but cause major repairs costing thousands. Every other convertible I even owned had rug on the floors, nothing else.
