I went to order some recently and it seems that Pentosin has stopped making ATF-1, and says to use ATF-6.

Pelican Parts says to use Pentosin ATF-6. But if you look at the data sheet: LINK TO DATA SHEET It doesn't say it's Porsche approved. I'll keep searching, anyone else out there know? btw: My 03 uses Pentosin ATF-1, which is Porsche approved. I went to order some recently and it seems that Pentosin has stopped making ATF-1, and says to use ATF-6. But if you look at the data sheets on those two fluids I don't think they are the same. Keep seaching...

And another thing to consider is mixing different fluids. If you're just swapping out some of the fluid, mixing different brands can cause problems...do you know what the previous owner had put in?

The spec fluid for the Mercedes transmission is Shell ATF 134. Or you can get it from Mercedes, ask for fluid for a 2005 E55 AMG.

I believe the 99 has a has a ZF transmission, not the 722.6 in the turbo and the 996.2. People seem to have good luck with Valvoline Maxlife in the ZF bmw world. I use it for all 8 722.6 transmissions I have. Seems to work well.
