I removed my air bag from my XPA Sport Steering Wheel so that I could replace the horn springs with softer springs (from the hardware store). That went well and my horn now has an excellent touch. However I am left with a nagging problem; the driver's air bag warning light won't go out. There is only one wiring connection that needed to be reconnected under the air bag and that has been done. I also tried starting the car four times as well as disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 60 seconds; the warning light persists. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you, Joe
If you've done all that, and it's still on, it sounds like a fault that needs to be cleared using the dealer's PIWIS machine, or something like it. There are aftermarket machines that will clear faults, but not all of them. Likely you'll need to go to the dealer to get it cleared.

Did you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the airbag lead? If not, would suspect that the sytem identified the disconnect and threw an error.
Did you turn the key on while the airbag was out? The system would recognize the missing airbag as a fault and kick the light on. Because the airbag system is somewhat important, that light wont go out until it's cleared by the dealer. Take it in, tell them what you did, they will likely run a quick diagnostic to make sure everything is OK and then clear it.
. . . . and charge you $45.
Thank you guys, I guess I'll visit my dealer! Regards, Joe
Yep what was said above was accurate, if you are going to disconnect an airbag line you want the battery disconnected otherwise a fault will be stored, something you need to have the dealer with a PIWIS clear. How much they charge or don't charge is up to them.
My airbag malfunction light on the dash came on about ten days ago after I ran the battery flat by not driving the car for a week and not using the Porsche battery tender during that week.
I tried everything I could think of including disconnecting the battery again for ten minutes but none of that work. The local dealers (400 miles away) said, "Bring it in for us to reset the computer."
Yesterday I used the Durametric software to reset that malfunction and several others that occurred when my battery went flat.
