I did a search but could not find any clear answer, and have not gotten underneath my CS yet (... yes shame on me)
What do you use as a rear center jacking point?
Unfortunately , there isn't one. The closest you can get is by using the points shown in wpmjr's article:
Using Jack Stands
if you are trying to get jack stands under the official rear jacking points.
Rear center jacking point just sounds dirty. Am I right?
Go to Walmart and buy some ramps...
Quality post for us new to the site.
That's the best solution.
The Lift-n-Secure system from Sears makes a center jack point unneeded. The jack slides under the factory jack pint, raises the car, and then you take the jack out, leaving a secure jack stand in place. See the photos in the article section under maintenance.
The only caveat is that you have to drive the car up on to a a 2" platform, aka block of wood, for initial clearance.
I can put the back end of my car up on two secure jackstands in under 5 minutes, including putting the car on to the wood. It makes changing the oil and removing the wheels simple.
That's just wrong! I like it, but it's wrong!
fmarshall:
You mean that you raise and support one side of the car, then you raise the opposite before having the two rear whells off the ground?
It seems that the car could fell off the first jackstand while raising the second side however, I may be wrong. (could be that I am afraid to found out)?
fmarschall,
I need to remove the four wheels at the same time (hyd flush) therefore, once the rear axle it's up (and secured) I'll move to the front one.
Thanks for the link with the Craftsman pictures!
If you're doing a brake flush you don't need to have all 4 wheels removed at the same time. You can flush each side in turn, lifting from the rear jacking point. Unlike when bleeding brakes, the order of which caliper is serviced does not matter.
