Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
If you want space and do motorway miles, then the M6 is probably the better bet, but in every other department I would go for the 996TT.
Leading evidence: 'better bet' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'better bet' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry for this post! I have 9934S and a 987 Boxster S . Need something more "extreme" from the Boxster so .... 996 Turbo or M6 spring to mind. M6 for a different experience - have yet to drive one though. Has anyone here tried and prepared to pass on views etc
Thanks
Completely different cars, so personally depends on your lifestyle, rather than the driving experience.
IMO if you got the M6, you would always be wishing you bought the 996TT. Seeing an M6 whilst sitting in your 996TT, you'll know you made the right choice.
If you want space and do motorway miles, then the M6 is probably the better bet, but in every other department I would go for the 996TT. However, with prices like they are, I would wait for the 997TT and get one of these.
Gotta say, i dont think the space in the back on the M6 is up to much... the back seats of the new M3 are limosine like by comparison... the engine on the M6 is magnificent... 996tt x50 quick once rolling i'd say albeit without the feel of the turbo kick...
handles like the big coupe that it is... steering feel doesnt compare to the 996 and the car has so much gadgetry (gearbox speed/various sport modes/suspension etc) that my brain started to hurt when trying to figure out whats best !! Cross country I have no doubt a 6tt would drop it like a bad habit. On motorways, i'd rather pass time in the M6
What i liked about the M6 was the head up display and the SMG paddle shift whch I thought worked well (though i've read manouvering isnt the easiest with it)... yes it would be a fabulous car to cross continents.
However, on balance, I couldnt compare the 6tt to the M6 as I feel they have different briefs, if you want a GT look at the M6 but also peers such as the XKR and CLS AMG, however if you're looking for something more extreme than the 987S, the 6tt is well worth a look... I made my choice :thumb:
as everyone says, the 996tt, as a sports car its much more direct, sportier, much faster et all than the M6. If you want a cruiser, then get the M6 but also look at its rivals : AMG's, XKR's, GT cars. Porsche non included.
I bought a 996TT and I get astonished every time I get in the car and I have no regrets whatsoever.
Word of wisdom though ; the difference between a 997TT and a 996TT is minimal : apart from the design and the newer cabin, the road differences arent huge.
Plus you can get a 996TT for a good price : its a buyers market. Decent ones start at 40k, good ones at 42k up to 50k to almost new, no miles model. 997TT still hovers a couple of 10'Ks upper than that.
Again while the 997TT is arguably better, isnt that much better than the 996TT - I tested both ( although the 997 wasnt an option ) and those were my conclusions.
went to an opc yesterday to look at a 7tt and draw some conclusions, but on seeing my cars spec and condition the salesman said that to be honest he wouldnt bother changing as whilst the 7tt offers a bit more of everything, its not night and day and certainly not worth the extra £45k odd
Never thought id have a salesman persuade me not to change !!
Agree on the minimal driving difference between the 997 and 996, what I was referring to was the modern interior and the better looking lights at the front...and that the 997tt will depreciate in %age terms quicker than the 996tt.
