I've read a couple posts in the 987 forum at 6speedonline.com, and some people have mentioned that its a good idea to change the oil on your Cayman after the 2k mile break-in.
I know that oil changes should be yearly, but...Has anyone here changed their oil at 2k, or recommend for/against it?

This has been discussed numerous times.
I suggest you try searching for oil change.
virtually everyone has a different opinion on the "1st oil change " question but my opinion is that is that you do not have to change it that quickly .
I changed oil at about 2k miles (just after break-in and just before the first track event). I don't know if it's really necessary, but it made me feel more comfortable, so I know it was right for me. I also changed at about 9-10k and again at about 17k.
Waste of good oil really. A number of members here have changed their oil at 10,000 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone labs for analysis. Each time the report comes back the same. It typically indicates that the oil contains a lot of assembly contaminants but is otherwise in good condition.
See this thread:

I think 2,000 miles is complete overkill. Maybe 10,000 miles, if you really work the motor hard. Even then, it's likely to be unnecessary. I will probably drop my oil at 10K and have it analyzed. The results of that analysis will determine my intervals going forward.
Remember, there is a downside to changing it too soon beyond the obvious waste of money. Changing oil unnecessarily also strains the environment and increases our dependence on oil. Use your oil wisely, for all of our sakes.
Getting assembly contaminants flushed out of the motor doesn't seem like a bad thing.
True
A spectrometric oil analysis isn't really analyzing the oil, it measures the amount and type of metals to help identify excessive wear and impending failure. The best way to use oil samples is to do them at regular intervals to look for trends. It's not really an indicator of the quality of the oil itself or an aid to determine oil change intervals.
What does the manual say?
2006 & 2007 manuals say to change the oil for the first time at 20,000 miles, and every 20,000 there after. I think the 2008 manual says 12,000 miles.
What they don't realize is that often this is necessary for proper ring, cylinder wall, and bearing break-in.
Never heard of this. Any data or backup?
Well there is your first problem, looking for Cayman information someplace else...
The problem with a question like this is sorting
facts
(say from Porsche for example) and
opinion
s (from some Internet source).
Thankfully not everyone does "Suppose you heard this “this is your captain speaking, Delta flight 409 will depart Chicago for Atlanta shortly, and we just need to check the Internet forums instead of reading our Boeing manuals to determine our throttle settings and…”
Yeah, Internet forums produce excellent, "real" information like this:
