I am the new owner of a 911 Carrera convertible. I have a dead battery and am unable to open the bonnet in order to get to the battery. The fuse box does not match the owners manual.

What year is your Carrera? If you check in the owners manual you might find instructions on how to power up the fuse panel to pop open the bonnet. I have in the past powered the car with the cigarette lighter just to pop the hood, this requires a cigarette lighter adapter though.

Isn't there also an emergency release in one of the front wheel wells? I looked at a car with a "stuck" hood and was directed to the wheel well for the emergency release (wasn't my car so I didn't try it myself).
1. Red positive "fuse" in the bottom of the fuse panel pull it out a little to enable positive jumper connection. Door lock loop on the body for negative jumper connection.
2. Engine release cable coiled between left rear tail light and bumper. Gently slide a rubber spatula into the space and use a stiff wire hook, picture hanger wire, to pull the engine cover release wire out. Use the + terminal and the air box mount bolt to connect the jumpers.
3. Frunk release cable runs under bumper cover to in front of right front wheel well cover. Fish it out and gain access to the battery. Some times you can get it by sliding under the front and looking for it, or pulling the side marker light and fishing around for it.
Easiest to just get the cigarette lighter/power outlet battery charger and just charge the battery overnight. I had the same problem a couple years ago. It's a nice little charger and I used it on several other cars since.
