You cant put the gun right up on it and Ive seen people use an adhesive removal wheel on those areas but man its not for the faint of heart.

Under different circumstances I’d just use a hair dryer and some Goo Gone, but these look way too baked on for that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, everyone. What’s the best way to remove the crusty old stone chip film from my wing mirrors? Under different circumstances I’d just use a hair dryer and some Goo Gone, but these look way too baked on for that. Thanks!

Wouldn't that be too hot for the plastic mirror caps?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Eh, I was afraid if that. As much as I hate those crusty things, I’ll hate whatever happens if I half *** the removal more.

POST 6Original post

I would not use a heat gun on paint. There is very little margin between hot enough to melt the adhesive and hot enough to blister paint. Steamer.
