Apparently you shouldn't use the axle for support but the jacking points instead.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Reading Fuchs post it occured to me that I don't really know how to do this. I've bought a Michelin racing jack and Draper ratchet style axle stands in anticipation of doing some work this weekend. I've also done a fair bit of searching on here and other sites but ther's no definetive answer. Apparently you shouldn't use the axle for support but the jacking points instead. But how do you get the car up in the first place. If I jack one side (front jack point) will the other side lift enough to get the stand under. Then what do I do? :? Any helpfull advice (and pictures) would be great, maybe even make it a sticky 'How To' kind of thing? :worship:

POST 2Original post

Stuart - there is some good info in this months 911& PW also have a look at P-car.com and here http://www.pcarworkshop.com/index.php/Main_Page

POST 3Original post

please tell me I'm not the only one who can't find any information under the link for jacking the car .... :?

POST 4Original post

My mistake - its refers to lifting a 993/964. Maybe worth checking your handbook?

POST 5Original post

Lots of nice photos of the car on jacks but no info on how to get it on the stands that I can find. Tried a dozen or so links but all went to the pics page. :? TB

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found one on 6speedonline but they talk of jacking it from the load point just behind the oil pan, not too happy about doing that. There must be a simple procedure to do it. Maybe it's only you 993/964 boys who tinker underneath...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it the one that's only just come out? Not bought that one yet...

POST 9Original post

you can jack it under the crank case at the back, just put a chunk of 3 x 2 on there first. this thread about changing an exhaust is usesful. http://www.turbo911.com/showthread.php?t=291
