This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Just to pick up on one of your points about a preference for the Comfort version: there is no difference in comfort between the comfort and clubsport versions on the GT3.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From my previous questions I may seem unsure about choices of car. Need something more extreme than my 9934S and 987 Boxster S . Talking to various people 996 Turbo is offered as a suggestion but also the GT3 Comfort version. For those who own one/have driven one is it really for track days or could it provide that extra fun over and above the Turbo for weekend use or the casual every day use. GT2 not considered as known as the widowmaker and a friend of a friend was killed in one so not that extreme

POST 2Original post

Most people have them for track day fun, though a lot of people (myself included) have them for weekend fun only. I will take it to the track at some point in time, but am quite content enjoying it on the small A roads and B roads. Best thing to do is have a drive in 1 and decide for yourself. Comfort would prob make sense for your use (I have a CS. But then, I did want a good Mk 1). Its a lovely car, great to drive and is truly involving.

POST 3Original post

I bought mine as a weekend toy.. As slow poke says to enjoy A and B roads, I do track her but not hard, I do around 3-4 track days a year. I enjoy the 'track day', not just tracking the car, the other cars, meet friends and new people etc..

POST 4Original post

Just to pick up on one of your points about a preference for the Comfort version: there is no difference in comfort between the comfort and clubsport versions on the GT3. Apart from the difference of cloth vs leather seats, both are equally comfortable (or uncomfortable depending on your point of view). If you are looking for something more extreme than a 987 Boxster S, I would suggest that a GT3 would be perfect. A Turbo is too akin in terms of the overall driving/comfort experience in day-to-day driving.

POST 5Original post

We walked the same path, my first Porsche was a Box S, thought i wanted a 996 but after driving a 993 4S parted with the cash. Fabulous car but wanted something more for a few track days and a weekend toy. The GT3 is practically a different model to the standard 996 - it feels totally different to drive. Big grins all round from the owners on here, but be warned once you have driven one you will want to buy one. Michael
