I've tried resurrecting an old thread on this topic, but response was very slim so thought I'd try posting a new thread on this topic.
I recently purchased an '08 Cayman S with the Bose upgrade sound system. Everything worked great until a couple of days ago, when I was driving and suddenly the radio stopped functioning. Went dead as in no display, sound, nothing. When I returned home and pulled into a darkened garage, I noticed a flashing red light just to the right of the display. Figured it was part of an alarm system but the car did not come with any documentation regarding the radio's operation.
First thing I did was check the fuse in the footwell, which was fine. I then read where there was a fuse in back of the radio head unit. Pulled the unit and that fuse was good, as well. I've tried disconnecting the batter for a few minutes, then reconnecting, but that had no affect on the situation, either. Also, I've read that some folks have had success using the key to lock/unlock the doors. Again, nothing changed. Just frustrated.
My diagnosis is telling me that the head unit is getting power, because when I pulled either fuse, the red light stopped flashing, and when I replaced the fuse the light resumed flashing.
So, now I'm thinking that the radio anti-theft (?) alarm may have kicked in. And I have no clue what, how or how to disarm the thing.
Can someone either explain how you can manually disarm (and possibly, arm) the alarm? I know the CDR 24 isn't the 'best' sound system available, but I'm not too fired up about having to purchase an aftermarket unit.
I’ve tracked down a pdf of the radio manual. How we, it’s missing pages 3-4-5. Can someone please scan or take a pic of these three pages and send to me?
I have a PDF of the manual as well, and interestingly, it's also missing pages 4 & 5! Weird. But I also have the actual manual, so I took a few poor quality phone pictures. Since p. 4 refers to p. 21, I included a picture of that page as well. Let me know if you need any other pages or anything.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. Unfortunately it still doesn’t help me out. The manual talks about the light flashing when the ignition is off but mine continues to flash when it’s off as well as when the car is running. Since the light is flashing I have to assume it’s getting power to the head unit? All fuses are good I just can’t power the unit up. Frustrating.
Sorry I can't be of more help. When I re-read your original description of your problem before posting my reply, I didn't think there was anything on those pages that was really going to be helpful to you, but I figured it was worth a shot.....
There are 2 power feeds to the radio: one that's always on (to retain the memory presets, A4 on the pinout I sent) and the other one (A7), switched via the ignition (may not be connected according to the document). Sounds like the flashing light is tied to the former. Have you checked for 12v at A7? Note that there is also the CAN bus connection C20 that controls the radio, it may be that your problem is there...which leads back to the alarm activation. If this is the case you may have no other recourse than to visit a dealer for recoding. A Durametric Pro version may also be able to do this.
Still nice to have all of the information...no missing Watergate tapes needed. Thanks again!
Thank you....gives me another avenue to pursue.
