Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And they probably then couldn't return the new clutch to parts stock once it had been fitted either.

Also in a few months time I have to go there to renew the warranty - they'll inspect the car and if some work needs to be carried, they will - but will they again ask for permission or just do it and present bill in the end ?

£50, £500, whatever") If they do, you are within your rights to demand that they undo that work and return the car to you in it's original condition (plus anything that you had agreed to pay for) - in the case of a clutch for example, this would cost them several hours labour to replace your old clutch that they wouldn't get paid for!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI there,
First time I will drop my Porsche in an OPC, Im wondering - how does it work ?
If I go there and say I want, for example, a major service, if they find anything else ( lets say a broken clutch ) their repair it and then when I come to collect the car I have a lovely surprise or if they see something that needs reparing they give me a call to ask permission before doing it ?
This is for a normal service.

if you have a warranty you shouldnt be too worried. Just make sure that when you speak to your service contact you make it very clear you dont want any extra work done without your permission, but they can do anything they want under warranty.
I bet you a pint of beer that if you take it to Chiswick OPC they try and charge you for "cleaning out your front radiators". Make sure you check your rads when you drop it off to confirm they are clear. They try this on with me every time. Last time I demanded to see the technician that thought my rads needed cleaning out and they immediately waved it and said dont worry.
99% chance OPC chiswick will also do your RMS if you have a warranty, regardless of its condition. So if you need a new clutch then make sure you tell them to call you if they are doing the RMS.
What he said ^^^^^^
When it comes to renewing your warranty, they do not need to inspect the car if you are currently covered by the Porsche warranty... If they inspect it anything they find will be covered by warranty anyway, so it doesn't matter which year's warranty it is!
Most dealers in the UK do not do additional work without the customer's specific authorisation anyway (e.g. you saying at booking in "if anything needs doing, just do it" or "phone me for anything over.... And they probably then couldn't return the new clutch to parts stock once it had been fitted either.
Worth saying that you want to be contacted before proceeding though - just in case (and especially if they are doing an RMS under warranty)
