Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So I ran into an issue removing the stock headunit...on the surface it is an easy removal- after removal of the two trim pieces surrounding the unit, just turn the 4 hex nuts holding the unit in place counter clockwise to release, along with the 6?mm locking screw. The problem is that apparently the headunit is missing the two hex nuts on the passenger side, preventing the headunit from being released. Has anyone ran into this issue that can lend some advice as an alternate method of removal? I already tried the brute force/prying it out method, along with pressing down on the metal tabs that (I think ?) the hex nuts would have held down. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

You can use your finger or a small trim removal piece to depress the metal ears inward and release the head unit. There is also a pretty long set screw that is located midway back on the right hand passenger side of the unit. If memory serves, it has a 4 or 6mm head. Some folks, such as me, don’t bother replacing that screw (it’s a real PITA to get at), so yours may or may not be present.
