I have asked the local official Porsche repair centre to quote for the work and I'm finding the cost a little unbelieveable.

Suggestion
I had to do some similar work on a friend's car as a result of my dog's running into the road, which resulted in deep scratches and some dents on the front wing of a 3 year old Ford Focus.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Picked up a scrape on my osf wing. I have asked the local official Porsche repair centre to quote for the work and I'm finding the cost a little unbelieveable.
It's pretty small scrape that I assume reqires the wing to be repainted. The scatches are qite deep, not a polish out job! anyone have any idea what I should expect tp pay for this kind of work?

Hi Senoj
Do I notice that the Side Repeater Light has also been scraped?
Yes they will want to respray the whole wing, to take the repair upto natural break lines at A Pillar, Bonnet and Front Headlamp Assembly.
Obviously there will be some preparation to get rid of the original scratches before respraying. Have the scratches gone down to bare metal anywhere, or is it into primer/electrocoat only?. Much cheaper if not down to nbare metal!

Clearly this was a Ford but it was done in a professional operation that is preffered repairer for a number of major
Insurance
Companies.
Thanks and Regards Big Bob
The quote from the "official" Porsche repairer includes the front bumper as I thought I'd get the stone chips done at the same time. Having said that there are only about 5 or 6 small chips in the front (and nothing on the bonnet) so I wasn't planning on having those done, just the fact that it was in having work I thought, may as well. Also the side repeatrer is not included as I bough a pair on ebay brand new for £25.
The price quoted is £1246 + vat.....astounding.
The scratch does go down to the primer, though not the metal, at least I think not but I can see a cream colur in the bottom of the scratch.
Hi Senoj, it does sound rather like taking the p***.
Where do you live? Perhaps some other Forum Members could recommend an alternative reliable repairer?
Regards Big Bob
That price is ridiculous !
Any decent repair shop will be just as good as any Porsche centre and sometimes even better. Their equipment is no better than any good bodyshop and their personnel no more experienced. I would pay no more than around £80 per panel.
I know I live in the grim north but £1200 ?????
Where do these people get their prices from ??
Steve
West Sussex, gatwick-ish. If any body can reccomend someone it would be appreciated.
Not looking for a cheap job, I'm happy to pay a reasonable sum for quality, just not that much, it would be cheaper to have it done on my own
insurance
at the current price quoted.
Off topic...
Dave, Scott and myself live around Gatwick !!
PARR have a bodyshop they recommend.. I think it is Stratstones (the Jaguar dealerships), if you go to PARR within minutes they will have a chap there giving you an estimate !
I'll give Parr a call tomorrow, they'll probably try & talk me into all those Cargraphic mods........I'm weak.....
do the w sussex crew ever get together? I'm going to Nurburgring in May any of you lot on that trip?
There's a place in Hassocks called Johnsons (or something like that) They're not in the official Porsche network but Mid Sussex get them to do their work.
Parr reccomended Abbots of Copthorne, £300 for the wing, + £350 if i want the front PU done (which I don't as it's not that bad). less than half the price I was quoted, + there was a newish GT3RS in there having work so that inspires a little confidence, they seem compentent & reasonable, will let you know.
it's booked in later this month.
