Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Underside of 996.1 GT3 Metzger lid Underside of M96 Aerolid I was really keen on going Taco one day. Preferably when there is more general use damage to the paint to repair. Parts are hard down in Australia, so I bought a 996.1 GT3 Taco which has fan and intake fittings for a Metzger. The fittings are in the top picture. The different fittings of a 996.1 Aero Carrerra M96.1 are below. Is the way ahead to metalcraft the GT3 to fit? Or switch to a "hot air induction" such as a K and N cone or Fabspped air intake. ? Fab a different cold air source. Thus Leave the fan in the Metzger position. My car runs 3 radiators, how important is this fan. Being an LN 3.8 this is a torque strong engine. Engine life mods Nickies, IMS Solution etc etc. well preceded the cosmetic. Thanks for your advice.

POST 2Original post

The K&N may come close to matching the opening for the GT3 intake.

The Evoms intake matches the GT3 lid (USA Passenger side) Cold intake. A UK forum Gentleman stated he got the factory snorkel side (US Drivers side) working by shortening it about 2 inches below the fan. Which in UK is seldom operating. I have 3 radiators in good condition. I actually like the way may car runs with stock induction. This will be my initial approach, which should mean not cutting the factory GT3 deck lid.

POST 4Original post

Kinda jealous. U cant get mk1 tacos for mezger 6-gt3 on this side of the pond as they never imported them. I would say dont cut the lid as its a lot more rare then a mk1 aerokit lid. The fan in the engine bay is to vemtalate the engine bay, nothing to do with engine coolant. It would be fine to remove if your climate is not too hot or if u dont track the car. U will get a slow coolant light blink if the dme tries ti activate it and it doesnt see it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Someone on this forum (Ogr8frogy) had done it already with an Evoms intake and shortening the US drivers side snorkel.
