Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

PSE Question
Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

In order to comply with certain EU "drive-by" noise legislation the PSE will become muffled at 31 mph and get back to normal at 45 mph.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a carrera 4 with PSE and last night i noticed the exhaust seemed to quiet for a period in second then get noisey again? is this supposed to happen? i was wrried there was a fault with the flaps or something ?

POST 2Original post

Hi and welcome. What do you mean by a period? A second or two or a fairly long period? If for a moment and its a one off, I wouldn't worry about it. If not then doesn't sound right to me unless your foot was off the accelerator.

POST 3Original post

HI dstyrell, The normal function of a PSE providing you have the fully swicthed version is that the system disables at 30mph and then restarts at 50mph, something to do with noise restriction. - Simon

POST 4Original post

In order to comply with certain EU "drive-by" noise legislation the PSE will become muffled at 31 mph and get back to normal at 45 mph. There is a simple(ish) mod you can do to keep it noisy all the time. If you use the Search function on the forum you should come up with something.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

it is from 31 to 50 i tested it last night!! thanks that puts my mind at rest!! bloody noise regulations!! the people that write those dam thing obviously dont drive 911's .

POST 6Original post

Ah My previous 996 was definately 45mph (I think :dontknow: ) I had a switch put in mine so that I had these options available 1. Loud all the time 2. Quiet all the time 3. Default setting - Loud to 31, quiet to 45 (or 50), loud to 100, very loud after 100 8)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine got the switch in it, When its on loud mode which it obviously is all the time !!it gets quiet from around 30 to around 50 i dont know the exact figures, then you can press the switch and have it quiet all the time. i want it noisey all the time when its in loud mode, aparently there is a mod to get rid of that noise regulation induced quiet spot ????

POST 8Original post

mine was quiet 31-44mph even though my PSE is not switchable. Used to drive me up the wall. as i did not have the ability to switch off anyway i just had the valves clamped open, noisey ALL the time

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I dont blame you mate!! THey really sound awesome!! is your a carrera 4 ?

POST 10Original post

ah yeah, I got mine done so its either on or off, no 30-50mph noise limits as its at those speeds where you tend to be the loudest

POST 11Original post

They sound even better with one of these 'suckers'
