Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They want £500+Vat to re-remap the car, as they say they will need to perform a whole new remap in case the OPC have updated the program to a "later version", so they can't just load the settings they used the last time.
Leading evidence: 'Use last time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use last time' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My car (996 TT with X50 pack) was mapped by DMS (by the previous owner) to an approx 550BHP. However during recent warranty work it appears that the OPC have re-programmed my ECU, this was confirmed at the rolling road day at the weekend when it only output 483 BHP as opposed to the expected 550. The 33BHP gain being thanks to the DMS exhaust.
DMS provide a free 3 year warranty on the map (in case the map gets over written by the dealer etc.), but this is not transferrable to the new owner
They want £500+Vat to re-remap the car, as they say they will need to perform a whole new remap in case the OPC have updated the program to a "later version", so they can't just load the settings they used the last time. They then would give me a 3 year warranty in case something like this happened again.
£500 +VAT is a lot cheaper than the £2k ish it costs normally, so on the surface a good deal, however it is still a lot of money (especially when you think how many hours it is realistically going to take them and that the "intellectual property" has already been paid for once.
As I am planning on selling the car in May, should I re-remap the car then the warranty I get with the map would then be lost. I am not sure whether it is worth paying out the money to have the car back to full power or to leave it and pass it on as it is.
Do you think having it re-mapped again would add any value (or in fact decrease the value) of the car come resale time? The new owner would always have the opportunity to re-map the car for the £500+vat if they decide 483BHP is simply not enough.
If I thought I would get any of the £500 back come resale time then I would consider it, as the extra 70 or so BHP makes a hell of a difference to the car and the way it performs, however with my wedding on Saturday and honeymoon etc. the number of times I am going to drive the car between now and "For Sale" adverts get posted is not going to be many.
Thouhts / opinions on buying a re-mapped car etc. and value add?
Cheers
If you are selling in 2 months, could be better to leave the ECU as std as it makes it easier to sell in theory, unless you get a switchable system and then turn it off come sell time unless the buyer wants that...
but then again nothing wrong with a reputable tuner that has been around for a while with a consistent record
exhaust upgrades are fine
IMHO, as long as the car is making the correct power (or more) for the X50 pack, which you can prove with the Dyno print out, you should sell it as it is. I think you would be unlikely to get the £500 back and if the age of the car permits, you/the new owner could still get a Porsche warranty put on without trouble.
 What he said ^^^^ Save your money! The next person buying won't know what you don't tell them....Just don't mention that it once had the map.....
Still has the warranty
Pretty much as I expected...leave it be for now, will just let the new owner know that I can get him a special deal on a re-map if he wants one, as I have the DMS exhaust.
Is a shame though, the difference between 480 and 550 is really noticeable, if I was keeping the car I would be very tempted to remap it again!
Having said that 550 was actually a bit scary, 480 is more than enough for everyday road use!!!
True. But a good selling point given the reputation of the GT2 - all the power but with PSM and 4WD. "A GT2 for the driver who doesn't overestimate his own abilities."
