Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2005 C2, how much should I turn the bleeder valves to get a good flow of brake fluid? 1/2 turn, full turn? Something else? Is there a number of turn you do not want to exceed? __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Porsche 911 Carrera Brake Bleeding - 996 (1998-2005) - 997 (2005-2012) - Pelican Parts Technical Article

POST 2Original post

It really depends on how tight the bleeders were tightened. Many times a car has had the bleeders over tightened and more turns are necessary. A rule of thumb I like to use, loosen the bleeder screw until a good flow emerges, if you see fluid coming up through the threads of the bleeder and the caliper that is too loose. These things can also clog up and require you to remove the bleeder completely and clean the bleeder until you are able to blow through it, then reinstall. - Casey

POST 3Original post

About a quarter of one turn. Your assistant pressurizes the line pushing the pedal and then you loosen the bleeder until fluid exits the caliper. When outflow stops at the point when pedal is at floor, you close the bleeder and then ask your assistant to remove foot from pedal so pedal returns up and then repeat this open/close bleeder action until you see no more bubbles or contaminated fluid. Usually 3-5 openings and closings is sufficient. Remember to check fluid level in container so it doesn't fall below MIN(imum) line
