The only thing I can do apparantly is cancel my warranty before the 23rd July, book the car in for the 111 point check (at my cost) and then renew before the 23rd July.

I have asked them if I can do the 111 point check whilst it is under the existing policy and they say no, as the new ploicy will have to be taken out immediatelt after the 11 point check has been done.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My C4 was first registered on 23rd July 1999. It currently has the Porsche Approved Warranty on it.
In the Porsche literature they say ....
You can then renew your warranty each year until your car is 9 years old or reaches 125,000 miles.
I took this to mean that I can renew the warranty up until the car is 9 yrs old, and thus cover the car up until it is 10 years old.
My OPC says that I cannot renew the warranty after the car is 9 years old.
Who has got the wrong end of the stick?
I'm confused! :?
You can renew the warranty anytime before the car's 9th birthday, and thus potentially have it under warranty up until it is 10 years old.
Certainly mine is under warranty at the mo until it is 9 1/2 with no problem.
I think they are basically telling you the same thing.
Thanks for the response Jay T
My situation is further complicated, because my warranty actually is due for renewal 6 weeks later (due to a gap by a previous owner).
My response from the OPC was instigated by me asking if I could get credit for the potential 6 weeks overlap if I renewed in July.
Warranty renewal dilemma - update
So there I am asking to renew my warranty in July before my car's 9th birthday, and the only way to do it is going to cost me @ £1100!!!!
My car was registered on 23rd July 1999, but the warranty is due for renewal on 6th September due to a gap by one of the previous owners.
Porsche have told me :-
1 I can't renew in September as the car is over 9 yrs old,. Fair enough
2 I can't renew in July, because you can't renew before the current warranty expires.
The only thing I can do apparantly is cancel my warranty before the 23rd July, book the car in for the 111 point check (at my cost) and then renew before the 23rd July.
So all in all it will cost me the 111 point check, wtty renewal and the money I 'lose' between when I cancel and when it runs out.
Nice one - no wonder they are making so much money!
Rant over (well maybe)............. :x
oh dear yet another thumbs up for an OPC! Deeeeeep sigh!!
Mark Pearce at Stirling Cars knows all about this and if you search through previous posts there is the EXACT AND DEFINATIVE answer somewhere!
Sorry, I got it wrong!!! The manual states EIGHT weeks, not 10. So to answer your question BB, it's not possible to just renew it early to avoid the 111 check. Got to say though, it sounds bonkers to me...might be worth speaking to Porsche customer services about it.
"Renewal
Provided Your vehicle still meets Our warranty conditions You can benefit from cover under the Porsche Approved Warranty for a further 12 months.
This can be purchased up to eight weeks prior to the expiry of an existing new Porsche manufacturer's warranty or Porsche Approved Warranty.
Once your manufacturer's warranty of Porsche Approved Policy has expired, you can still take out a new Porsche Approved Warranty. However, your Porsche will be required to go through a vehicle check prior to the Policy being issued."
I always thought the eight week clause was a bit unusual and it took me several reads to fully understand what was being said...I guess the underwriter really only wants to cover cars up to 9 years old.
I have spoken to Porsche Customer Services (again) and the only way that I can renew is to cancel the current policy, do the 111 point check and then renew before the car is 9 yrs old.
I have asked them if I can do the 111 point check whilst it is under the existing policy and they say no, as the new ploicy will have to be taken out immediatelt after the 11 point check has been done.
Apparently the warranty can be [/i]purchased
8 weeks before, but the warranty needs to run continuously.
Seems a ridiculous lack of common sense to me. All I want to do is renew the current warranty from my car's 9th birthday.
Maybe I should get on to XL Insurance who provide it.
