I used the firewall location on the driver side of the car, big black rubber plug to the upper left of your clutch pedal, comes out on the very right of the front boot.

There is a bunch of cables already going through, but the plug is big enough to make another incision, I used a thin metal rod and supported the cables going through with a small rubber grommet that I got in a set of assorted grommets at radio shack.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

So I'm planning my headunit install and was wondering if someone with experience would point me to a convienient location where I can get a wire from the compartment where the battery is located, through the firewall and ultimitely ending up at the receiver. Much appreciated....

POST 2Original post

I used the firewall location on the driver side of the car, big black rubber plug to the upper left of your clutch pedal, comes out on the very right of the front boot. There is a bunch of cables already going through, but the plug is big enough to make another incision, I used a thin metal rod and supported the cables going through with a small rubber grommet that I got in a set of assorted grommets at radio shack. There is another firewall rubber plug that is convenient that goes from behind the battery to behind the headunit, but you have to remove the battery to gain access to it.
