Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I own a fantastic 2001 996 C2, that runs like a swiss watch. When I asked the editor of Total911 magazine about the absence of the 996 Carrera S from their listing of all Porsches ever made, he said no S model was made. Is that true?

POST 2Original post

The Red book does not list a C2 S. What is the VIN #?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'd prefer not to put VIN out there.. I've seen similar 996 Carrera S models on eBay from time to time FWIW

POST 4Original post

Your VIN is seen by everybody that walk by your car... Post the first 12 #'s.

POST 5Original post

In 2002, Porsche introduced an "S" variant, but only in the C4, not the C2. In response to criticism that the Carrera had become too refined, in 2002 the C4S came with many options including lowered suspension and sports exhaust. It proved popular and set the pattern for the 997 Carrera S versions.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

By coincidence - another 1999 S on eBay today. I've seen a few more. Weird.

POST 9Original post

Anyone can make their car an "S" model for $20 on eBay.... Large Silver "S" Letter Rear Lid Trunk Boot Emblem Badge Porsche Cayenne Carrera | eBay I've seen it more than a couple of times myself.

POST 11Original post

There are no c2 s models that year- just added autozone badges

POST 12Original post

IS the 2001 c2 a mk1 or a mk2 maybe they introduced them on mk2 and beyond? I have a 1998 mk1 which i guess is base model but what i like about them is that their power to weight is higher than all prev s models and also some later models. Prob due to their light weight.
