Today while looking at the Dension site for information about the ICELINK 500 for MY '05 Boxster S with PCM 2.1,NAV and CD Changer, I noticed information for a BLUETOOTH module. It is the Desion BT1000 and it appears to be my Audio solution for my IPOD and bluetooth. This adaptor will, as it appears from the photo, to transmit to your bluetooth phone. However, there is no information on the site as of yet with full details. I need to understand if the audio regarding the bluetooth will come through all of my speakers and how will it affect the music when it is activated. I also wanted to know if it is being added to the Dension 500 or becomes an option. If so, will the music stop playing and then resume once I disconnect the call? First thing I did was to send Eric-the plug guy an email to find out more. He said details are to be released soon but the module is not out yet. I think this will at the least satisfy some of my primary concerns regarding BLUETOOTH and Audio.
I am hoping that there will be another group buy very soon for the Dension 500. If you are interested, please contact me.
Has anyone found out about this BT1000 module? If so, please enlighten me.
From what it looks like, it simply plugs into the expansion port of the Dension 500, and I am assuming that the way they configured it is when a call comes in, it sends a connected signal to the Dension 500 which has priority over the other sources and thus mutes them... sort of how when the iPod is connected, the Aux port is muted until you disconnect the iPod.
Also, I'm betting that if your PCM is set to single CD or FM radio, you will have to switch the CD-changer to take the call.
The Dension 500 can't send commands to the PCM to control it or alter the way in which buttons function, it simply interprets cd changer commands that are sent from the PCM; I doubt the actual phone buttons on the PCM will send\end calls since this would make the PCM shift sources from the cd-changer and would require dealer programming to be active anyways; but I'm guessing that the fastforward\rewind commands will be used to send end calls, like they are used to enable\disable features or accept menu commands on the Dension Gateway.
Hopefully we will have more features soon, because I'm wondering if the unit has its own mic or somehow taps into the mic already in the car... it looks like there is a 3.5mm minijack for mic input.

Suneet,
Do you ever sleep? Or ever miss anything about Cayman Electronics! You are truly amazing and a valuable resource.
I saw a post about this on ******** from Eric at BumperPlugs.com and am anxious to hear more details. Suneet makes some valuable points (as usual) so I'll reserve my excitement until we get more details. A positive development nonetheless.
Suneet's thoughts are absolutely right.
If the PCM is on CDC, you have to switch to there first. Then you see the callerID, and you can decide to accept or reject the call by pressing TrackInc/Dec.
GW500,
Welcome to the forum
I was wondering if the bluetooth module will have the ability to offer phonebook download from bluetooth equipped phones and then allow scrolling through contacts or using an on-screen number pad to actually place outgoing calls. Or if you'll have to simply dial on the phone and then enable the bluetooth (ie: acts like a b\t headset).

Hi, thanks!
It won't have phonebook handling capability, in the beginning at least. But the phone's Voice Dial function can be activated through HU/wheel controls.
I think showing an on-screen number pad is impossible on CDC interface.
Yea, I thought perhaps it could be implemented in a way the search feature is on the ipod, a list of numbers\alphabets. That is interesting that you can do voice dialing with the PCM's controls.
Still the module will be an easy, effective alternative to hooking up a motorola or parrot kit and should have good audio transmission. I'm looking forward to the kit being released into the US market.

If the phonebook downloading would be ever implemented, then the current Search function can be used also there.
But it would be too compicated to dial a number that way, wouldn't it? Remember, you have to press seekFW to confirm each digit. Anyway, in theory it is possible.
