Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While my 996TT (28k miles) was being prepared for a geometry check, I was advised that the control arms could do with being replaced (bushes are in need of attention). Does anyone know if these are covered by the Porsche warranty or are they considered as wear and tear items?

POST 2Original post

Unfortunately they are not covered by the Porsche warranty I had an MOT advisory on mine, and replaced them with Hartech refurbished arms which are about half the price of the new arms @ £75 ea cf @ £150 ea for new from Porsche

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bill, I thought as much! How much did it cost per side to replace (including parts). I'm assuming Hartech send the refrurb'd arms and once replaced you send them your old ones? Cheers!

POST 4Original post

On mine the only thing that was wrong was that the middle track rod bush had perished, the ball joint, and chassis bush was ok - but this is the common problem. Hartech required a refundable deposit (£100 I think) against return of your old arms. I found them helpful, and the quality of the refurbished arms was excellent. My local indie replaced the arms for a couple of hours labour. Get new bolts and nuts as well, as they don't come with the arms, and need to get torqued up to some huge figure I can't remember. Hope this helps

POST 5Original post

both mine were creaking at 25k miles & replaced at OPC, about £300 I think. not warranty, which is ludicrous IMHO.
