I have audio pilot turned on (box checked) but I can't get to the screen that adjusts the influence of Audio Pilot.

Mine just doesn't seem to be adjusting sound at all.

I think that Audio Pilot is suppossed to automatically adjust the volume for road noise, windows down/up, and for speed.

that is equipped with AP and it is active on the Head Unit, and you don't notice it chaging volume as your interior noise changes / speed changes, then I would take it to the dealer.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I'm having trouble figuring out 'Audio Pilot'. I think that Audio Pilot is suppossed to automatically adjust the volume for road noise, windows down/up, and for speed. Correct?
I do not notice the volume adjusting at all. When I have the windows down I have to turn the volume up to adjust for the wind noise. I thin roll the windows up and the music is super loud so I have to physically turn the volume down. Should I have to do this?
I have audio pilot turned on (box checked) but I can't get to the screen that adjusts the influence of Audio Pilot. I see a screen in the
PCM
manual for adjusting the strength of Audio Pilot but I can't get to it in my car.
Help please. How do I know if Audio Pilot is working?
I think the microphone that picks up noise is not working.
Shane
Yeah, we're drunk by now. Coco told me some hot girls were going to show up but I'm still waiting.
Also still trying to figure out 'Audio Pilot'. No help here yet.
Shane
Bumping this thread yet again. Anyone have experience with Audio Pilot? Do you notice the car's stereo adjusting volume for speed/windows up/down, etc?
I don't.
Shane
Shane -- no changes with windows obvious, but mine definately changes volume with speed changes. I've got
PCM
w/ the
Bose
, and have never seen any other screen besides the check box. Also, took some plalying with the "set" setting to get optimal "3D" sound -- no particular science to it, just change the setting until it sounds good. Greg
Well in terms of outside noise, wouldn't there need to be some type of microphone to register that? It may only work if you have the phone module installed. Maybe ask the dealer. I've personally never noticed a difference with my
PCM
/
Bose system
, but I don't have the phone module connected either.

I notice the change in volume and I have the option selected. It is somewhat subtle, but you might notice the difference coming off the freeway and sitting at a light - on vs off - if on the music would not be as loud sitting at the light - assuming you leave all other volume settings the same as highway driving.
Actually, there IS a microphone somewhere on the dash (I don't know where, but supposedly it's a tiny hole).
I definately notice the volume changing, primarily with speed...

Helo Driver
- the microphoneare the two square pieces on top of the steering column. when AP is on, you will notice the stereo increased volume when engine noise in increased.
i actually dont like it. mine gets louder more often then lowers volume when engine noise is decreased...so the loud volume stays on. very annoying...better to leave it off.
yep....all in the manual...i notice it on a daily basis, especially with the windows down. i kind of like it though....keeps me rockin when im going fast, but turns things down when im waiting at the light.
Yes, the audiopilot is on in my car. and I can't stand it and I haven't figured ot how to turn it off. I believe the microphones are on the top of the steering column.
Steve
I also have the
bose system
and audiopilot enaled and like helodriver it doesnt seem to be working.
Tried it in several methods. I tried simply rolling the window down but no increase in volume. I tried pushig my rpms past 5000RPM but also no increase in volume. I also think/thought my mic is not working
Works super duper great on my friend's 2001 Lexus GS 300. The more you lower the window the higher the volume goes.
AudioPilot microphone
FYI for readers; looking at the photo in the
Cayman brochure
(page 83), the AudioPilot microphone appears to be mounted beneath the little grille on the top left of the steering column
switch housing upper
(997 662 273 02). I've no idea what (if anything) is mounted under the matching grille on the right side.
It works on mine and it's very noticeable. In fact it's annoying, I wound up turning it off. It keeps turning down the volumne too much when I get to a stoplight. I have
Bose
with no
PCM
.
There are 2 micro-phones on either side of the steering colum (see page 187 of the 2007 Owners Manual). One is for the Audio Pilot (if equipped) and one is for the Handsfree Phone unit in the
PCM
(if equipped).
With regards to the AudioPilot, you should notice an increase or decrease in audio sound as the interior noise changes. I notice mine change with the speed of my car more than the sound. Before I knew there were micro-phones in the steering colum, I thought the sound of the stereo responded to the speed as if it were speed sensitive.
If you have a
Cayman
that is equipped with AP and it is active on the Head Unit, and you don't notice it chaging volume as your interior noise changes / speed changes, then I would take it to the dealer.
FWIW, when I first got the car in January, I enabled AP (I have a non-
PCM
car), and could not detect any change in volume with AP on.
But just recently, I began to notice it, and have decided that I do not like it. To me it is very noticeable. I suspect that it is less apparent when the windows are up. Now that the weather here is good, I am driving with the windows down, thus more cabin noise. When pulling up to a traffic light, there is a marked decrease in volume.
Me no likely.
BTW, I have read the audio system manual from cover to cover. To the best of my knowldge,
Bose
AP is an on/off feature. There is no adjustment.
