Scott, if you're going down the WD40 route i'd try some bike chain lube (maybe even motorcycle chain?) I've used wd40 in the past and its wonderful stuff but it doesn't hang around as long as some of the more dedicated lubes (talking solely from a bike perspective now but applying it to general lubrication...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A question for all the other hairdressers out there  Should I be doing anything to the cab roof or more importantly its mechanisms, e.g. oiling them etc to make sure they remain in tip top condition :?: Or is this something that the OPc should do as part of the servicing :?: It works fine and always has done but just wondering if it needs something else to ensure ti stays in A1 condition :?:

POST 2Original post

I've used wd40 in the past and its wonderful stuff but it doesn't hang around as long as some of the more dedicated lubes (talking solely from a bike perspective now but applying it to general lubrication... ahem.. ) most of the bike lubes also contain teflon which (to the best of my knowledge) WD40 doesn't...

POST 11Original post

i bought some silicone spray from robert dyas (ironmongers) who sell it as a curtain track lubricant. spray that every month on the moving parts and it stops squeeking. i also bought some zymol rubber seal replenisher (or whatever its called). its the only zymol product i own (£££) but got it cos i figured the seal on the cab roof is worth the expense. yet to use it.
