So as you say i am off to a indie, the OPC told me they would "investigate the issue" and if it was the motor they will replace as it is covered...

So does the warranty cover the windows not working On the way home yeasterday went to open the window motor engages and then a bit of a bang and nothing happens.......... :nooo: Anyone come accross this problem before?? Tahnks Paul

Unfortunately yes. It is the cable that links the window motor to the actual window glass. Not uncommon for it to snap. The warranty covers the motor, but not the cable. Dont get me started... They say that the cable is a consumable item, hence not covered. OPC Chiswick and Porsche UK know my feelings on this, after a lengthy complaint to them. IIRC correctly its c.£150 to get it replaced. You need the new cable part and also a membrane that covers it and stops any water getting into/out of the inner door compartment (bit hazy on that info though). As always, the greatest cost is labour, so consider an Indy. When you get it repaired, check they have aligned the window glass perfectly. OPC Chiswick didnt on my cab. It wasnt terrible, but needed an adjustment so I didnt get wind noise (so to speak) from where window glass met the hood.

Thanks for the swfit reply.... I have just had the same conversation with 'Mike' at Cardiff OPC, that the 'warranty doesnt cover this' :nooo: So as you say i am off to a indie, the OPC told me they would "investigate the issue" and if it was the motor they will replace as it is covered... however, on further questioning it is doubtful it would be the motor, and therefore it is 2 hours labour to investigate :x NOT HAPPY, wonder how many 'PUNTERS' are skinned like this..... My time with this car is limited, I believe :evil: Thanks again, Paul

Not just Porsche, had the same problems with my Mk4 Golf and funnily enough VW did not cover it under warranty either (2 failures on driver side, 1 on passenger) grrr :gunfire: money making scheme.if that is a consumerable item, they need to re-engineer it so that it is not!
