Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I am interested in upgrading the front speakers in an 07 Cayman with the Sound Package Plus. Here is what I think is correct. The 8" speakers in the door are subs and play whether the stereo is faded front or rear. They are 8 ohms. There is a 3.5" mid in the door and it is 8 ohms There is a tweeter in the dash and is 8 ohms as well. Here are some questions posed to you all.... Are all the speakers powered off the factory amp? Are the crossovers for the speakers done at the amp electronically, at the speakers passively, or a combination of both? Has anyone put a larger mid where the 3.5" was located? If so what did you do and how much depth do you have there? Thanks for all your help!!!

POST 2Original post

Are you sure about 8-ohms? I've heard 4-ohm for the center, subs, 2-ohm for the midrange tweeters. The center midrange and door subs are powered from the ASK amplifier in the front trunk. The front midrange and tweeters use a crossover that is done passively at the speakers and (along with the rear midrange) are powered by the amplifier within the headunit. Jneg is the only one on here who has changed speakers. Do a search in the electronics forum. - Suneet
