Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would appreciate any constructive feedbackwhether its suggestions for torque specs to double-check, considerations for setup, or things you would approach differently.
Leading evidence: 'Check considerations' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check considerations' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Are there any bolts/nuts and other things you recommend having on hand in the event they need to be cut/drilled out (as the result of rust/seizing)?

I had eyeballed the setting originally, but I had to keep increasing the ride height to get to the point where the tire wouldn't impact the fender.

I have the same Feal set ready to be installed, but I'm still gathering parts.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

This happens because the front spring is to high and so the weight of the car is not enough to get a lower droop number you can use a shorter spring or like i did ended up with a much softer 3kg spring on the front of mine.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm cross-posting this from the 996 Turbo forum because I believe it will help non-turbo installs, especially for the C4S models.
I wanted to share a recent DIY project I completed on my 2001 996 Turbo and would love to get feedback from those with more experience.
I installed a Feal 441+ coilover setup myself, despite having very limited prior experience with suspension work. Before I started, I spent a lot of time researching Rennlist threads, factory torque specifications, installation write-ups, and general tips to ensure everything was done correctly and safely.
In the video, I document the installation process, the tools I used, the torque references, and a few challenges I encountered along the way. My intention is not to present this as a professional how-to guide but rather to share the perspective of a newer enthusiast learning to work on these cars and applying the knowledge already shared by this community.
I would appreciate any constructive feedbackwhether its suggestions for torque specs to double-check, considerations for setup, or things you would approach differently. If this helps another member feel more comfortable tackling their own suspension install instead of taking their car to a shop, thats a win in my book.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed technical knowledge here over the yearsthis project wouldn't have been possible without it.

FEAL COILOVERS
A few months ago I helped my son do a suspension refresh on his 997 4S. He took his front axles out and got them rebuilt as part of the job. My 996 is 2WD, so when I put my FEAL 441s in last month, I didn't have to deal with front axles, but they don't seem to be a lot of extra work to remove. I like your video. It might be valuable for others to know about the measurements (like 'droop') that you have to deal with to get the lowering amount right without lots of trial and error.
I lowered mine an inch all around.
How do you like the firmness? At 15 clicks from firm, my cab is very stiff. I can't imagine how it would be if I went stiffer. I'll probably soften it up a little to get a little closer to stock. What kind of camber do you have?
Yes, I agree, definitely less work for 2wd, but AWD isnt really that much harders just more steps.
In my follow-up video, I can discuss all my measurements in detail. I am also looking at a 1" drop all around.
I'm in the middle of setting my Feal 441+ on my c4. The backs went on perfectly, looks good, with no chance of impact even when completely compressed with the bump stop.
With the fronts however.... I pulled the springs off, and again compressed the front up to the bump stop. I had eyeballed the setting originally, but I had to keep increasing the ride height to get to the point where the tire wouldn't impact the fender.
Once I had that setup, and had the car back on the ground, I think I ended up with even more of a gap between the fender and tire. While I wouldn't be overly worried about it impacting under normal conditions if i lower it even more, but there is still some comfort in knowing that (basically), contact is never going to become an issue. Droop is currently around 36mmm but trying to increase that to 50mm and it ends up with running out of preload tension.
Have you had any luck setting up the fronts yet? I feel almost certain I'm doing something wrong, or making some assumptions I shouldn't.
Have you had much luck setting the ride height and droop?
This happens because the front spring is to high and so the weight of the car is not enough to get a lower droop number you can use a shorter spring or like i did ended up with a much softer 3kg spring on the front of mine. miles better and drove great on the road. yes its not going to be as good on track but the roads in the uk are pot hole crazy.
Just wrapped up dialing in the suspension on my 2001 996 Turbo. I’m sitting really close to GT2 ride height now and the car feels completely different — sharper, more reactive, and way more connected. Still letting it settle before alignment, but I’m honestly impressed so far.

Thanks for posting. Im waiting on my PSS10s to show up in about a month for my C4S - nice to see the process first so there are no surprises.
Random question - youre interior looks great and I cant tell, are things like the horseshoe trim around the radio wrapped in leather or just painted to match? I thought C4S and Turbo came standard with full leather but Im second guessing myself after doing some reading
I havent seen many 996s in person so Im still trying to figure out all the different options you could get - mine has the center console and what not paint matched to the exterior but I think I like the single color look better.
Nice video and great walkthrough - subscribed! I have the same Feal set ready to be installed, but I'm still gathering parts. Are there any bolts/nuts and other things you recommend having on hand in the event they need to be cut/drilled out (as the result of rust/seizing)?
