This is not a probability of success.

If it is holding charge, then I'm relatively sure that you can get it towed to your local OPC under the terms of your warranty, but check the small print to confirm.
Leading evidence: 'battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'battery' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check small print' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all.
4 days in and my 996tt is a non-starter.
Turned key this am and got clicking from the front. Mechanical type.
Thought it was the battery so charged it today.
Just reconnected and turned the key...... same noise
Plus "airbag failure" warning.
Any suggestions?
Also - does the OPC warranty include "Porsche Assistance" to get it to my local.
It sounds as though your battery is knackered. Your battery can get to a certain point when even a recharge won't save it.
First thing is to get Porsche out (or pref. RAC/AA), they can then very quickly confirm if the battery is holding charge.
If it isn't holding charge, then get a Bosch Silver type fitted.

The battery can go "just like that". Mine did in my old Targa without warning - one day fine and 3 days later nada. It is something to do with the cells breaking down and I was told that 4 years was quite good for a battery !!!
The Porsche warranty does indeed include for the assist - whether that would be a start to get you to the OPC or a trip on a flatbed, I don't know.
Thanks guys,
The (new) battery charger took 90 mins to green light and put itself on trickle.
Interior lights not dim.
Much wurring from the CD changer in the front and with ignition on the Nav CD too. Have removed the changer and the Nav CD.
Car was working fine.
No hint of a drain.
Battery looks new (OEM MOLL type)
How do I contact Porsche Assist?
maybe i have misunderstood, but:
If a discharged battery only takes 90mins to turn green on a charger, it sounds to me like the battery is dead. I have a CTEK 7000 and it is rated to fully charge a battery in 12hrs IIRC. I leave mine on for 6-7hrs and it rarely gets from 75% to the full 100% marker. A dead battery might indicate that it is 100%, but it simply wont have taken the charge. Its dead.
Or maybe you meant that you bought a new battery which only took 90mins to go full, which would make sense.
Porsche batteries (MOLL) have their build date stamped on the lug (terminal). But bear in mind this might not give you any useful info cos maybe the battery sat on the shelf for 6mths before being sold? However if it indicated your battery was 6mths old, then find your receipt and get a refund!
