Certainly if you leave the car locked for over 5 days, you need to use the key to open but if you dont then immediately press the door open button on the key fob with the key in the lock before opening the door the alarm fires off.

I have a 2004 996, on odd occasions when I insert key to start the engine I get a quick succession off beeping sounds, around 5 to 6 of them in a quck blast, last approx 1 or 2 seconds..this happens say on average every 10 start-ups, cant see any other warning lights etc, every thing seems normal just this beeping.. anyone shed any light on this please? not sure if this is relevant but have a Parrott hand free kit installed...

Hi It sounds as though its a function of the alarm system. Certainly if you leave the car locked for over 5 days, you need to use the key to open but if you dont then immediately press the door open button on the key fob with the key in the lock before opening the door the alarm fires off. Are you leaving say the car unlocked for over 5 days , and then attempt to start it when this occurs? Regards Big Bob
