Suggestion

The DME/ECU uses the wheel speed sensor to determine when to raise/lower the spoiler.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sometimes. The spoiler does not raise at any speed. I can raise the spoiler from the awkward footwell switch. The spoiler will stay up overnight, but if it's in the up position during driving, it will sometimes drop. Am I looking at the ram system, the switch, or something different? Thanks in advance, David

POST 2Original post

Whatever it's worth they only go up at 75 mph and will lower as your speed drops (like taking an off ramp or side street) If you stay on the highway it will remain raised as long as your driving 70+. Are you wanting it to stay up all the time?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It will not raise at 75. It must be 'manually' raised via the switch and then will drop unexpectedly.

I know the spoiler has gear-teeth track and a gear to raise and lower. Perhaps the track is worn in both the up and down position enough that road/engine vibration is enough to let it back down or not go up? Not sure about this. There are a couple of threads on how to move the spoiler switch if you are interested. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-relocate.html https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...sh-switch.html Maybe this helps? YMMV

I noticed the relocation threads and it definitely seems like a solid mod. my thought was the same in terms of the worn teeth but was hoping it was the switch lol

POST 6Original post

There are two relays in the secondary relay panel that control up/down. The DME/ECU uses the wheel speed sensor to determine when to raise/lower the spoiler. You should check those relays for 12V and ground, then check the wiring harness in the engine bay.

POST 7Original post

I just went pretty far down the rabbit hole on my spoiler issues, yours sound different, but maybe my info can help: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...the-weeds.html If the switch is working then your signal wire to the relay and the relay itself should be fine. As long as you get a spoiler error at 75mph I'd bet your gears are stripped out and it can't raise at speed with the extra resistance. I would just unbolt the whole assembly so you can sit down at a workbench with it, removal is fairly straightforward: Raise the spoiler manually assuming this still works Pop out the 4 plastic caps on the back of the spoiler and loosen the allen bolts behind them, should be 5mm Remove the painted spoiler panel, at this point it'll pop out, find the spots it's clipped in Undo the 4 10mm bolts holding the mechanism to the spoiler Now you can remove the mechanism, it's a bunch of 5mm allen bolts and unhooking the harness The plastic clamshell where the gears are located in is held together with 3 long bolts around the motor and a bunch of plastic tabs You should now have a good view of your mechanism

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies. I guess I have to put eyes on the teeth to see if they've eroded and take it from there.
