Anyone have experience with this? My windshield is cracked and needs replacement. My car is already gutted except for dashboard and headliner so some additional weight savings would be nice. I drive this car on the streets so I would rather have an oem install.

Interesting idea. Did some quick searching, and it seems the weight saving isn't a whole lot (maybe ~20lbs based on other car's data... I didn't do the math for this one specifically). That said, it scratches more easily, is static-prone, pits more easily, polycarb is not UV stable, and it just may not be legal on the road... so I guess it depends on what you plan to use this for? Is this a road vehicle or track-only?
It is weight fairly high up though.
Pretty tempting. Supercoating, perhaps makes it UV resistant?
I have poly windshields on my
911
and 914... A few caveats..
The windshields deflect at high speeds.. you'll need to install a vertical brace at the center of the windshield
Conversely you need to install keepers on the exterior to prevent the windshield from blowing out if you have a off.
If you wear polarized glasses you'll get weird haloes and effects looking through the windshield... I little disconcerting at first but you get used to it.
They are a bit finicky to fit well..
Thanks for all the tips guys. This windshield is SUPPOSED to be installed in stock fashion without the need for additional support. Maybe because it's 1/4 thick? I think most race cars run 1/8 or 3/16 which would get a lot of deflection. I can't seem to find the weight of the stock glass but if I can save 10lbs man that would be awesome. But that's probably being too optimistic. The Supercoat is supposed to help with scratches and marring but only experience will tell how much. This car is still driven on the streets but if it was track only I'd have poly glass in a heartbeat. I contacted the company and there's a 90 day lead time. I'm not even sure I can wait that long...
