I am replacing my front control arms as they have started to squeak. I have actually ordered the stock trailing arm as well as control arms but I am having second thoughts. I typically track my E36
M3
but do one or two track days with my
987.2
a year so I think camber adjustment up front would be nice.
Looking at my options.
Rennline has a nice oem-style
gt3
arm kit for $850.
Tarret looks good but pricey.
RSS looks good but also pricey.
Elephant racing - probably leaning towards them since I like the adjustability without having to use shims and it is cheaper than tarret and RSS.
I have also come across SPC.
https://www.spcalignment.com/compon...610®ion=USA&make=Porsche&model=Cayman&year=2010 - 2010&from=USAFrom&to=USATo
I am seeing mixed comments saying those are not compatible with the front suspension for 987's. I emailed SPC and quickly received a response saying it was compatible, however, I believe I have seen a post where someone from spc claimed they weren't compatible. I am curious if it is a matter of using a spacer for the trailing arm similar to what the rennline kit (and I think 996 gt3 arms) require. These looks nice as they are adjustable, greasable and rebuildable. Not to mention, cheap.
Has anyone tried these SPC control arms? Any one have experience with the elephant racing vs tarret vs rss arms?
Also, the RSS site states that their arms are only compatible with lowered vehicles. My car is stock height and will probably stay that way for a while. Do all of the gt3 style arms require lowered vehicles or just RSS for some reason.
Thanks!
Elephant LCA's have a single bolt that connects the inner bushing to the rest of the control arm. GT-3, Tarett and RSS have a two bolts that are parallel, pinching the 5mm red shim spacer. I think that system is more robust and secure. I do have Elephant rear adjustable toe arms and front steering links that have bump steer adjustments. They also look extremely cool. That goes with the Tarett Cup LCA's (race spec), down links and adjustable GT swaybars. I also have GT2 cooling ducts attached to the LCA's. You can see the lower part of the Ohlin shock as well. My car is lowered about 34 mm, so I am playing with the center of gravity here.
